When Moulin Rouge came out, they often omitted Lil Kim. I didn't hear the full version for several weeks. I was wondering why they put her on the track just to make 'uh uh' noises.

Oh and Katy Perry's E.T. is so much better with Kayne on the track.

that Ross verse is a remix though. The original is just Lorde. They only play the remix in hip hop stations.

God I hated this remix. Like I legit couldn't understand the point of it at all.

The pop station(s) in my town did this in the early 2000s. I always laughed at the part where they bragged about, "playing the hits, without all that hip-hop and RAP CRAP."

Quite clever ... But, half the songs played were hip-hop influenced songs, just scrubbed of any actual raps. Laughable.

Anybody know the rule behind this, if any at all? I find this to be one of the most obnoxious, offensive things when I'm running through radio stations in the car. What if a rap verse on a song is a prime reason why the song is a huge hit in the first place?

Quick examples that immediately come to mind:

-Katy Perry feat Snoop - California Girls
-Maroon5 feat Wiz - forget the name
-Katy Perry feat Juicy J (HUGE example where rap verse is so key)
-most recently, new Maroon5 hit feat J. Cole

This shouldn't be allowed, and I wonder if it's been an issue over the years.

Juicy J ruined Dark Horse. That guy fukkin sucks.

They did that to Marian Carey in the 90s that she made with the Lox and ODB.

just imagine if you're a new artist and your first song on the radio is you being featured on a hit song and they don't play your verse... the embarrassment being in front of your boys like "yo i thought you said you were featured on here, what happened!" :russ:

and you're just like :beli:

then get like :snoop:

and go to your label like :pacspit:

only to be dropped and never putting out another record :takedat:

the life of a rapper brehs :mjcry:

It be like that sometimes :damn:
