I will say this though, from the outside looking in, this gang warfare and violence in Chicago will not be solved any time soon. The shootings have actually gone up this year. The number of people that have been shot this year is approaching 900. These are stats that read like a city experiencing urban warfare. 900 people shot halfway through the year reads like a break down of society. It should not be happening in a city with some of the highest median household incomes in the world (nor any city for that matter).

All the "put down the gun" measures aren't having any impact at all on the minds of these kids. The only viable measure that I can see working is stricter laws against gang members, and sadly, that should include minors as well. There is no conceivable reason someone should be back on the streets a couple years after shooting someone. The difference between getting 5 to15 years and getting life in prison sometimes is down to the skills of the surgeon that is treating the victim. The biggest barrier however is going to be the no snitching policy. Killers are allowed to run rampant on the streets because the community is too afraid to turn them in.

the amount of "serial killers" running around must be in absurd, prob more serial killers in a section of chicago than anywhere else in the country
