Blaming hip-hop for issues that are largely of socio-economic origins, thecoli favourite past-time.

Any easy scapegoat.

OP beating another dead horse :francis:
Good ol respectability politics :unimpressed:

"If black people would just fix themselves and stop listening to that rap crap, they wouldn't be oppressed"

Didnt read all of op but i somewhat agree. As a grown man u can look at the "rappers" and realize they're usually lames. Dumb. Fake. Corny etc. Unfortunately for the young kids out there who dont know better they worship them.

I was ready to fight with you because I agree with this 100%

Then you brought up MLK :francis:

And it reminded me that that’s the real problem …

“They” killed all of our leaders and cultural icons or sent them yo prison. They offered incentives to black women to break up black families putting men out of homes. They limited access to jobs or took jobs away and created a black underclass. They limit housing opportunities to minorities despite having laws in place against it. They underfund schools in black areas to compound the problem. They limit access to healthcare and green and safe spaces. They own the companies and distribute poisonous music and disincentivize any artist not following the program.

And yet we blame MLK for trying his best to stop the harmful practice of Jim Crow for the ills in the black community.

Truth be told in hindsight this thread is just as bad as any rap song because it’s sending the wrong message.

Well said, you cant blame MLK when there were multiple movements at the time with varying ideologies. There were various leaders who had a different plan and way of doing things.

And that didnt stop after MLK,because then you had the Panthers who werent like MLK and werent allowed to exist.

What changed is back then being a black intellectual with charisma was how you became a leader. It basically transitioned to being able to rap is how you became a leader.

And im only talking a leader as in someone who is apart of shifting the collective conscience. Its always been a battle about shifting the conscience. Rappers dont really do that alone. But one gains popularity enough that others copy. And it just repeats until that mindset becomes a dominant part of the culture.

So essentially rap just became the new battleground instead of the debate format of black intellectuals of the past. So basically the conscience community failed, and your favorite conscience rappers failed. There passivity and being out of touch is why they lost the battle for the black conscience:respect:

So we get rid of hip hop and replace it with what?

This a conversation about the rap industry segregated completely away from hiphop.

So do not even throw hiphop culture in this because rap was misappropriated away from hiphop clearly and distinctly almost ages ago at this point.

Even the boom of rap music as a pop draw. was from after misappropriation of hiphop culture past the point of no return.

Ruthless records runs the world and that bullshyt jery heller was on.
to ruin rock misappropriated blues. Was making rock a complete deathknell. Was Gifted the ill fate.
Of eazy walking through his printing press doors. Which would evemtually make hiphop into the fad. the new school way of thought subverted from 1983 - 2013.

Now we are seeing.
Conviently all of rap music.
be used as the new scapegoat of this perverted xraided style prison industrial economy serial killer on wax come to post Crack meets current fentanyl based epidemic. Slash post pandemic.
Way of life. Where they continue.
to try to create this.
as a form of pseudo normalcy in our communit.
