art has never been about sales
Not true. If you want to eat, while still doing your art, it has been. If it wasn't about sales you wouldn't know anyone of the famous artist in the past. What you should say art has never been about selling MILLIONS of records. That wasn't needed for the artist to make a living and support themselves. It can be like that now if the company spend their money wisely, and not spend millions. This way they can get a good return on their product, and keep putting out music. It's all about the budget, and how it's spent.

I think some rappers are so bored, they just release shyt without caring..Just to be like yeah im still alive..lol

As for 50,I think his mixtape stuff is cool..Iovine is basically trying to tear his soul down...lol...That nikka could put lady gaga on that shyt and it would still flop..

I dont even think jada drops that much considering what other artist outputs are
That's my point tho he never drops and when he does it's not great but people still think he's top5

that mindstate leads to catering to the largest record buying audience ie whites and has led to an unfortunate decline in quality in hip hop.

You didn't read my post correctly. I stated selling MILLIONS of records is not what art is about. You can sell records while catering to your audience white or black. Let's not pretend all blacks will buy your record, and appreciate it for being creative, while whites won't. It's not about race as much as it's about catering to music lovers who will buy your music.

Or the machine pushes it as the one of the best recordings made. People don't give credit to how much the media effects what we like, and call classic.

Did I just got 3 pages without seeing anyone mention Eminem and Lil Wayne? Em dropped his first album in 96 and Wayne in 98. Or are we talking early 90s?
I mean staying relevant in mainstream for 10+ years is not normal. Add Puff to that list as well.

20 year olds are the ones that brought back the Actions Bronsons, Joey Badass, Odd Future, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J. Cole and other nikkas that can spit bars.
I think any young dude who fukks with those dudes would love any classic as long as the production is dope and RDs production is dope as fukk in 2013 as well.

Em came out with Slim Shady LP in 1999. His 1996 release was little more than Demo album that got pressed up and didn't get any ones attention outside of his own neighbourhood.
