For you maybe.... :troll: There has been socioconscious hip hop fpor a long time... Dead Prez, the roots, common, mos def. Come on son are you serious. There have been rappers talking about smart shyt for a long time. No one wants to be ignorant 24/7!

Then go listen to them nikkas then.

I don't need hip hop to teach me bout shyt. I just need for it to be entertaining so when I'm cleaning my crib on a saturday I can make the :scusthov: face when the beat drop

Look...I understand that fans want different things from their rappers...

but...y'all want them to have solutions for the communities' problems,
be revolutionaries, be role models for your kids, but still be honest,
and still have good beats, have songs that make ladies wanna bounce
in da club, and be super lyrical at the same time??

Y'all are asking an awful lot for $12.88 free, aren't you?

Who said all that? Some of these responses are a bit disturbing. Nobody said rappers need to be surrogate parents and teachers (his thread was only semi-serious btw). I simply suggested that it would be a good thing if popular rappers started to mention investing in the stock market...not make "The 10 NASDAQ Commandents."

People absorb information in a variety of ways. People have internet access. Sometimes simply a mention of something new can prompt a listener to research something, particularly if it's presented in a manner that makes it alluring.

Even if not, if rappers compare themselves to everyone from Farrakhan to Pablo Escobar and namedrop things ranging from expensive fashion brands to the Knights Templar, there's no reason why stock market terminology can't be thrown in with the rest of the random namedrops.

Like I said, this wasn't even really a serious thread, but it's kinda disappointing to see that so many people are so HOSTILE to the mere notion of suggesting that rappers use their verbal talents for any anything positive or compelled by a sense of civic duty, even if it's as minor as subtly planting seeds of new information in potenti

I know this was a tongue-in-cheek thread, but i've seen a lot of threads in here suggesting what rappers should rap about and agendas and whatnot. We should just let 'em rap about whatever the fucc moves them and see what happens...

(sidebar: E-40 has been rapping about investments since 1997, but nobody likes him, so whatever...)
