You ever seen one of those old western movies? The wild wild west is what they called that place. They shootin' up everything, robbin' the train etc. Nothings changed. If you go out west there is organized pressure that can be put on you and if you don't pay you may be kidnapped or worse or you just will have problems every time you go out there until you can't go anymore. Claimin' sets just shows others that if they mess with you, then you have some power behind you that can deal with it. Or it shows the others affiliated with that set that you are good. If you got thirty armed guys that ambush you in a place you not familiar with, what good is two or three security guards? Plus if you think you got to hand out in your own town, just imagine how an out of towner gets treated.
Then I guess I'd be getting kidnapped then. Like nikkas said already they ain't pressing Bieber to pay and claim Piru. Why me, cause I'm another black dude I gotta be down with street shyt?

It also seems to be mutual. ASAP Rocky is based in LA does he run with a set? Drake? Big Sean? Kid Ink? Hell none of those Odd Future dudes got sucked into it? They all were (and still are) young enough to get swayed into fukkery.

No doubt. That's what theyre here for. All these ex military/private security etc. I aint playing no games when I cash that check. nikkas is hungry out here. My shyt will be official, and I could give a fukk what people have to say. Grown man shyt, I understand the young cats who roll deep might not see a need for it. But as a business man if you serious about success, your circle wont be full of law breaking throwin rocks at the penetientary ass nikkas anyway.
Stay out the "hood" and you don't need security.

I've seen NBA players dolo.
Jerry Seinfeld has no security.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Is weak as hell. Kinda funny too.

:dame: A MAN who raps about being a gangsta paying other MEN not to allow that MAN to get exposed as a mark. But in effect, that MAN is still a mark if he has to pay not to get treated like a p*ssy by other MEN.

Do labels set aside an extortion budget for when rappers have to pay hood taxes? If you were a famous rapper, would you be cutting those checks on the low?

"I'm respected in the hood. The skreets love me y'all :troll:" - Lyin ass rappers
this is exactly what sparked my fav era in rap..........

the dvd era.... where rappers would go visit different hoods, hoods they were born in, and hoods they had no business being in... BY THEMSELVES... or with the squad.... and proceed to do the dumbest shyt while screaming "LOOK AT ME... NO SECURITY nikka!!!!!!" :damn:

fat joe still has my personal favorite... going back to the bronx to literally lay down on a project step in a fresh leather.. just to prove he could still do it......... WITH NO SECURITY nikka :damn:

Only a fool would call that sucker shyt

100% agree but for the sake of playing Devil's Advocate I could see another perspective where it's like..how can you claim to be the hardest nikkaz in the streets but you have police protecting you from being touched? (A lot of DR nikkaz ended up getting touched, Cops included, but you get my drift.)

That's like being a school bully that's friends with the principal. While smart, you're still partnering with the authorities you claim to be against ("187 on an undercover cop", "fukk the police") so one can say it's phony.

I agree for argument's sake but with just so much at stake more bosses than not go that route. I get someone going the opposite way off principle but I'd think in that life principles get you killed.

I'm not a street nikka so :manny:

It is phoney, but the streets is home to the most fakest, phoniest, snakey nikkas. It's almost as fake as the rap game imo. The dudes who really live by the hardest nikka role end up dead or in jail doing life more time.
