100% agree but for the sake of playing Devil's Advocate I could see another perspective where it's like..how can you claim to be the hardest nikkaz in the streets but you have police protecting you from being touched? (A lot of DR nikkaz ended up getting touched, Cops included, but you get my drift.)

That's like being a school bully that's friends with the principal. While smart, you're still partnering with the authorities you claim to be against ("187 on an undercover cop", "fukk the police") so one can say it's phony.

it's only wrong when you start snitching... like whitey bulger.. you use the cops to go arrest your foes


now if you are paying cops, to tell you when COPS are coming to get you... that's not breaking any rules

if you are paying the cops, to keep other COPS from opening up cases.. that's not breaking any rules



i think suge was paying cops to keep/steer other cops away from the murders he was committing.. not like he was paying them to go arrest nikkas (depending on who you feel killed biggie)

Do labels set aside an extortion budget for when rappers have to pay hood taxes? If you were a famous rapper, would you be cutting those checks on the low?

Its not extorting if your paying homage... As a real nikka, when you go and get money in another nikka city, you should check in. Its just the proper way to handle yourself. You go to that mans town, you go and see him, y'all break bread or blunts. And then your good.

There are plenty of rappers that don't pay for protection. Actually, it would seem to me that the ones that do pay for protection, are the ones that actually have the problems. If you're of the people, among the people, no one's gonna bother you - unless it's personal.

It is more complicated than you are making it sound. While I agree guys who talk crazy gangsta shyt shouldn't need bodyguards but that's not the actual point of having them or the sole reason....

Some of these guys pay their friends to be bodyguards. These guys make tons of money on the books and in order not to get crushed in taxes, they need expenses. Giving a friend a job while at the same time getting 'security' works out for them. Their team eats and it's written off as a business expense.

The other part of having a body guard isn't always a street beef. You have crazy fans. People are weird as fukk with celebrities. The one bringing in all the money can't be the one throwing punches incase they get sued or have to go to jail.

If you are a licensed body guard it is much easier to apply for a concealed weapon permit say in California.

If you rich and famous and you make your money by going to different cities and different countries to throw shows of course you're gonna need security... You going from place to place pickin up checks, your name rings bells, best believe theres always wolves aware of that....

Rappers r not Jerry Senfield who doesnt leave his comfort zone for a check.... rappers gotta go to shytty ass clubs in the hood to get that money, in different cities, so of course they always payin' for protection one way or another
