Yeah
That Lyor Cohen footage was disgusting.

Atlantic seems like a "good" label as far as exposure is concerned, but it seems like anything else musically inclined has to be fostered under the artist's own discretion.

RAPPERS should stop signing to MAJOR LABELS period unless it's a JOINT VENTURE split that allows the rapper to maintain his sovereign Independence

WARNER\ATLANTIC...UNIVERSAL... SONY are all basically the Same shyt but different toilets

:manny:

thread. these rappers need to start buying up their own distribution and push the music out their own way.

Atlantic will have you using pre-made songs they've had in the vault for years, just to get you on the radio. But after signing that 360, damn near all of your tour money, streams, publishing, and whatever sales you bring in, are going straight to the label. I've had a lot of friends sign to Atlantic and spend pretty much every dollar they actually have in attorney fees, to get off the label.

They won't lie to you about what they do over there, but they're not exactly worried about you being knowledgable of it either. Most rappers just want a look, and they know that what they offer is more appealing to a starving artist than doing it on their own. I'm always shocked to hear that dudes are still signing over there. Kevin Liles said Atlantic has signed more artists under 360's than any other label since '05. But most rappers are more worried about looking paid, than actually being paid. The debt these dudes get in with Atlantic is just crazy. Sad even.
damn i believe every word too.
rap game is overrated lol
and once that interest is lost, then its :mjcry:

i wonder how much it costs to make an ablum and how that relates to profits based on sales

example: how much did Future album cost -- will mask of recoup the budget?

rappers can buy their own studio and hire a cheap engineer etc

i guess that got to pay for the beats but future cool with metro so how does that work

That premade "hit" and 360 deal hustle is fukking mean :wow:

Make like 90% or more of the money on the song if the shyt takes off.
Whoever came up with that hustle is an evil genius for real. :wow:
B.o.B.
Lupe Fiasco
and I'm sure several other artists have fell victim to that shyt, it's like
an age old tactic reborn in an even more disgusting new form.
