Was this before 2002? Cause his production was pretty consistent from 02 and on

:patrice:

Yeah don't understand that comment. His first 6 albums were dope and had good production.

Was never on a decent label. Back then you weren't selling any more than he did without a label pushing you on radio and spending on videos. If he'd signed with Def Jam in 97 he would've gotten a lot more recognition.

Stitches never really got on though to get blackballed.

He was just starting insta drama and trying to build hype.

shyt, he was kinda like 6x9 now that i think about it. Just didn't have sufficient management/label situation, video budget etc.

he was a gimmick that didn’t work, and didn’t someone pull his hoe card

Original label folded after Doe or Die. Had an offer on the table from Def Jam but backed out after someone got in his ear about Def Jam's financial issues. Said it was the biggest regret of his career, Lyor was pissed, felt like he held a grudge and blackballed him.

no, no one was checking for him, after doe or die he made nothing of value outside the firm joint, and from what op said his wife making bank he’s good

Lil Flip was for a bit due to T.I. being sensitive and Scarface being a liar

flip don’t have the drive anymore, can’t remember the last time a nikka checked for a flip album let alone song

Charles Hamilton

Tim Dog (RIP)

Bishop Lamont

Charles Hamilton got snuffed by Mary j bilge step daughter that’s on growing up hip hop, his career died right there

Hits help 95% of the time, but Roscoe Dash & Keri Hilson showed that if you piss off the wrong people, it gets much harder to sustain a career as an artist.

Jeremih is in a similar position now where he makes songs that are clearly hits, but it's obvious that the machine isn't pushing those songs at all. They should be smashes and instead he has to rely on word of mouth.

from what i hear Jeremih just ain’t pressed to work because he gets his money from writing

A lot of y’all really are confusing fell off and blackballed

Which is hilarious because literally everybody in rap has collaborated with him since that ban. A good amount of his albums have often looked like compilations

Flip has steadily released music since the beef and paying 2 million to get off Sony (or Columbia Records, can’t remember which). He actually has a Curren$y-like work ethic, but I just can’t get into a lot of his recent music cause he sounds so different.

you aint gonna be on TV or radio AT ALL. That's actual blackballing ... not you being shyt on by your record label... certain shyt is pushed and certain shyt aint :yeshrug: that doesnt make it any better or worse

Mike Jones, had a run and sold units, dropped 2 singles that didnt move and fell of while Chamillionaire rose to the top :jbhmm:. We never heard from mike again besides that album that dropped in 09

Everyone said he was hard to work with too so maybe he just pissed off the wrong people

I got it on a old hard drive

its a dude in the studio holding the memo and you can see about 7-10 names

KRS and DeLa were on it ... I cant account for the rest of the list. But you could see the top of the memo from 2005 when it was posted. It was right around the time 106 was peaking

I'm a huge De La fan, it was right near when THE GRIND DATE dropped and suddenly they stopped talking about it and that memo came out. Right around that time alot of cats were trying to get on those countdowns and were gone with the motherfukking wind :russ: if you need more proof, look at BONE THUGS career ... they actually had better songs and better videos when they were banned from TV. They never got back on TV ever again and that was the end of their chapter. I wouldnt say that whole list is confirmed, but I wouldnt be surprised either.... the De La Soul shyt was weird because they weren't the type of artists to cause of scene or act wild. Something with the label shyt and them made all business just stop. Most of this shyt just boils down to Payola and slots... if a label pays for their artists to blow up, you aint gonna get a spot. :yeshrug: the label and company work hand in hand... they aint putting you on or doing no favors. They arent gonna just promote KRS ONE for him to get bread on their platform if it dont benefit them.

Yo Man - this thread is flopping
People still just listing people who either fell off or stepped on their own feet.
BLACKBALLED means a person or group is making a direct effort to KEEP you from eating or shining.

Example:
Adam and Barry have beef. Barry is a music exec or venue owner or a lawyer. Adam tries to go on tour or release an album....
If Barry is a music exec he makes calls around his network to shut Adam's efforts down
If Barry is a venue owner he not only blocks him from performing but also blocks any associated acts from performing and discourages any other artist to have Adam open for them
If Barry is a lawyer then anyone who rolls with Adam suddenly starts getting mired in litigation for anything and everything therefore creating headaches for anyone who tries to do business with Adam.

Canibus is NOT blackballed - he is just not popping right now.
AZ is NOT blackballed - he is chilling and may have some past regrets on missing opportunities but no-one is actively against him.
Stalley is NOT blackballed - he is a C-list artist who is not popping right now but all that can change with a dope project
Dex is NOT blackballed - he just has issues and needs to focus but nobody (powerful) is out there trying to cut him off
No-one from the Firm was blackballed - Cornega had an unhealthy obsession with Nas, so really Nas had justification to blackball him but Cormega released multiple projects after the fact and nobody was keeping him from being productive. Nas just said he wasn't gonna hold his hand through the process but he never tried to block Cormega's shine. Foxy Brown was a diva that nobody wanted to work with but all Foxy had to do with adjust her attitude and the money is waiting for her - thats not being blackballed.

You want a great example of someone actually being blackballed? the actor Isiah Washington - thats somebody plenty of people want to see ran out of town and who is actively kept from getting opportunities created by his own actions.

Alright Imma Head out now....
Aka basically your right everyone else is wrong
