The definition of 'doors being closed' is way too broad.

Doors can get closed to rappers when they flop, or dont produce, that's not being blackballed. That's just called flopping.

Like 70% of the artists listed in this thread weren't blackballed, they flopped or weren't the kind of artist to blow in the first place.

Blackballed is some 'youll never work on this town again, fukko' shyt, due to some even or circumstance that made people actively want to halt their careers.

the bolded is what a lot of us are listing.

and hence the words "THIS TOWN". and they may blackball you from other towns where they have connects but theres always some town out there, where you can get it poppin without having to worry about that chit.

master p blocked pastor troy from universal, but they eventually came back around and signed him a couple years later.

50 was just getting shot, stabbed & beat up because he started a beef with a rapper & his label that was affiliated with a major figure from the area

You cant start beef locally with people with more money & status than you & expect to flourish especially if your a up & coming artist & their way more established with major street & industry connections

Blackballed is when a major artist, producer or exec had massive or good success in the music business & then abruptly gets shut out & a bunch of doors get closed by the industry for some particuler reason at least in the music industry

But salute to 50 for overcoming something he didnt have to go through but i guess its about getting really rich & almost dying trying hes a legend

Keri Hilson was not blackballed by Beyonce. She even wrote for Beyonce AFTER allegedly dissing her. Kanye and Ne-Yo worked on Keri's single "Pretty Girl Rock" AFTER she allegesly disses Beyonce. She was featured on a Kanye Good Friday track. She also had a song with Jay Z called "Rumors", which also came out AFTER she dropped that diss.

Again, posters need to fact check information before posting it. It ruins the whole integrity of the board because people will see it and run with it even if it isn't true.
