Mc Hammer. Real talk he is the blueprint of the enterprising rapper. Before it was popular he was in commercials, had a cartoon show and was deemed friendly by white people. If he came out today he'd be the featured artist on kidz bob and would be taking home mad nick teen kids choice awards. Plus he wouldn't have been labeled a sellout, since modern day sellouts are considered hustlers.

Would 'Brenda's Got A Baby' get spins and airplay if it came out today?

To be fair, it didn't then either. Got strong video rotation, it's a classic of classics, but a big popular mainstream single? Nah. Pac wouldn't have one of those until "I Get Around".

It actually wouldn't even be a single today. It'd be track 13 on the album, while something that can get played in the club would be the single.

Ridiculous premise. Everybody comes out when they're supposed to come out.

Who knows if anything would be different in terms of popularity, but the names that come to mind are Memphis Bleek, Obie Trice and Budden.

From The Westside With Love
Troy ave, dude woulda thrived in the beef DVD Kay slay/clue/envy mixtape era 2001-2005

Nipsey hussle, he would've caught on to a wider audience if he dropped in ~2011, there wasn't momentum in LA back in 09

The thing about Nipsey, is that Epic dropped the ball big time with him... he had the biggest buzz in LA since Game, rock solid mixtapes.... and then they were like :manny:

Him,Wiz and Jay Rock got the shyt end of the stick with labels who slept heavy on them

Good one, it's crazy how he got clowned, then by the late 90's/early 00's every rapper was trying to be the face of everything non rap.
