If you havent seen the movie the Players Club then I question your race. I was only born in 91'.

lol @ my race being in question. you just need to realize that youre just a homer.

players club helped put me thru puberty. seen it a million times. lisa raye is my goat. but what does rappin-4-tay have to do with the movie, aside from the fact that cube lifted the name from his song? cmon dun.:smh:

and the whole basis of my comment is the fact that im ridin with rappin-4-tay on this so

the point is, cats who don't already know who Rappin 4-Tay is, how are they gonna know it's his lines? they just think it's Drake spittin so they have no incentive to go back & peep 4-Tay's albums

I just listened to the whole song :snoop: it was only those first couple of bars hahaha, it's not even that bad. Plus it's Drake I think he does things like that to troll people that already don't like him. Anyway hopefully Rappin 4Tay gets some credit.

:wtf: what does an Ice Cube movie have to do with this?
The song was in the movie.:aicmon:

Edit: just googled the sound track, it wasnt on it but it still should ring a bell with the same. It was a national hit.

not really. it was more of a regional hit that made it to rap city.

you act like he made "i got 5 on it" or something.

also, the song was out like years before the movie, iirc.
"Released during the summer of 1994, "Playaz Club" became the first of two top 40 hits for Rappin' 4-Tay and was his biggest hit on theBillboard Hot 100, peaking at number 36." If thats not popular than I dont know what is.

what is that supposed to prove?

there were bigger hits that didnt make a huge splash. and on the flip, there were songs that didnt hit billboard at all but made huge impacts.

sometimes you just have to be there. charts and numbers are almost never good representations of what was happening. especially back in those days.

:what: It proves that the song couldnt be regional only if it hit 36 on the charts.

this is where google-style research backfires. youre just looking up random numbers & stats with no type of background informatio, which leaves you with no real understanding and no sense of perspective.

youre from the bay area, so surely you know that the bay has the most supportive local fanbase ever, right? alot of those guys were going platinum in the '90s without blowing up much, thanks to that support.

rappin-4-tay was no bigger than dudes like dru down and richie rich.

my man celly cel came out the gate platinum, and im like his only fan up here.

most these dudes can walk down blocks in other parts of the country and nobody will know that theyre successful rappers. and for the record, i liked most of that '90s bay ish. im on rappin-4-tay's side.
