I also see this as , the culture isn't being passed on, young kids disrespect or don't know about old school cats. If he woulda dropped his name, it'd be a way to provide context to older/regional music younger folks don't know about. I remember Biggie's rappin duke line, I was too young to know the reference, but my brother put me on game about daha-daha, not an incredibly important song in the culture, but wider context of what he meant by how far rap has come. This type of shyt isn't coming from the dudes rapping today.

:dead: ive seen a few nikkas in here say he has to shout it out because nobody knows what song he's getting it from...

why is it drakes fault that nobody has heard that wack ass song before?

the people that were meant to get it, got it...

If4tay's song is so "wack" why would Drake feel the need to bite and quote 4tays lyrics? :lupe:

Yeah
Like “Trophies,” YG’s DJ Mustard-produced and Drake-assisted “Who Do You Love” surfaced early this morning. In a September interview with XXL, the Compton rapper said that Drake wanted to put the song out, like, the second it was done — which may be why Drake teased it at an after-party in Houston — but YG felt it was better to wait and “make sure my hit comes out right.” So all may not have gone exactly according plan with the release, but with the DJ Mustard signature synth-bass and Drake’s my name too big, my gang too big braggadocios– sure sounds like the hit he had hoped for. Like he said, “It’s a banger. [Girls] gonna be in the club with they homegirls turned up.” “Who Do You Love” will feature on YG’s debut album, My Krazy Life, which is scheduled for a March 18th release via Def Jam.

Edit: YG confirmed on twitter that this is not the finished track. “butt turn up tho,” he says.

Album doesnt drop till march, single isnt officially released.. how are nikkas expecting him to get a writing credit already?

Half these new rappers don't even know who 4-Tay is... dude should be glad Drake respected him enough to show love.

I can't believe I saw some of y'all insinuate that Drake was biting the lyrics on purpose hoping nobody would notice. :pachaha: Y'all delusional as shyt.

Dudes really think Drake was in the studio, heard a BAY AREA sounding beat, and thought "I wonder if anyone will notice if I bite a classic Bay Area verse on this :patrice: Nah, who remembers that song?"

Real heads heard that verse and knew Drake was paying homage. Only people upset about this are you same dudes who be hating on Drake every chance you get. :camby:

Drake's target audience isn't hip-hop purists or fans of 90s bay area hip hop. He trends young and dumb. More than half the people who hear this verse will like it and have no idea where it comes from. So yes, he could fool enough people to make it worthwhile. Throw enough disingenuous praise to 4Tay in interviews and he's off scott free.
