One of my favorite US cities
Only reason i didn't give it a 10 because yes, PDX is heavy on the :mjpls:. You hardly see any regular brehs in Portland. And the homeless problem is out of control.
BUT
The city is beautiful, they have mountains and rivers, all that shyt. Very fun party scene with a variety of things to do. The wealthy parts of Portland are gorgeous.
The city has a lot of character, its really its own world.
White liberals have inundated the city which means regular brehs are pretty much treated very well by locals (thats been my experience, they always want to talk to you). The cism can be very heavy there though tbh
Portland has beautiful parks and walking trails...getting blazed and walking the trails is heavenly :wow:
The music scene is fukking LIVE. All kinds of bands playing every day of the week. Their radio stations are great for music heads (XRAY FM is GOAT)
If you haven't visited...go!

Beautiful city. Visited there five years ago to run the Portland Marathon.

Voodoo Donuts:noah:
Public Transit :leon:
Food Trucks  They have a group of brehs making a name for themselves in the food truck game .
Beer :lawd: Deschutes is my favorite brewery and they're not too far away (Bend)
Phil Knight is god

Surprisingly large young population .

I met a number of cats from Seattle that treated Portland as their place to get away for the weekends..

Pros: Food, overall vibes, outdoor friendly, PAWGS if you're into them.
Cons: Not much of a black population
Got some :mjpls: vibes from a number of older Cacs ., Rains a lot

Downtown can get very crowded
Suburbs are even less diverse:mjpls:

I'd give it a 6 if I caught this thread sooner.

*sees score* :picard:

:yeshrug: just a bit of encouragement to put into the universe/ see alot of people have desire to go places/ but because of the ill mannered cacs, with racist vibes etc:picard:

they back off from going.

i understand it/ know it's not a little thing it can actually be all encompassing/ something cacs will never comprehend:mjlol:

but if they gone do something / let them do/ let it be that:yeshrug:

they can't / will not/ monopolize all of our - OUR land - majestic beauty and natural scenery :ohlawd:

my admonition is to go/ most of the time it's racial posturing

you meet new people/ new experiences/ life is to be explored:ohlawd:

Anybody have information on the 165th/Burnside area? Any black folk in that area? Finding out some info that another guy from Sac may actually be my pops, and he spent some time in this part of Portland...

@Doomsday or anyone else who know Portland...

That area is heavily black/mexican

like dude above said, its mostly black and mex out in the numbers.

I aint too familiar with Southeast Portland myself. I usually ran through North & NE Portland. :manny:

Edit: got my sections wrong, had to fix em. been a minute since I been in Ptown

Appreciate yall both, may be on my visit list if I find out I got family there...

Is the black community in Portland matured, like are there community and civic events for us? Can you tell that black people have a presence in SE Pdx? Basically what is life for a brother like there? And what are sisters like who are born and raised out there?

Only thing I know about Portland is the Klan/white nationalist organizations, it has a reputation as being really hostile for blacks. I have a brother, who has a brother on their dad's side, who has left Sac twice to go live in Portland in 2-3 year stints, and he loves it...

That's about the extent of my knowledge though. And how do they receive/embrace Californians there? Seems like a number of Sacramento people have ties there, do you see people from other parts of Cali there or just Sac?

:salute:

They did have events for the community when I was livin out that way. tho I never really participated outside some events hosted by the "House of Umoja" off alberta in North East Portland. "Last Thursday" is more of a CAC thing, but some brehs do set up some booths and stuff. sadly last time I went to one was during the gang war though and the city started cracking down heavily on curfew for LT with the police patrolling hella deep.

Personally, if you trying to get acquainted with the community, I would recommend going to TB's (Terrell Brandon's Barbershop) off 14th & Alberta.

Raidersreciever might have to answer the SE question.

as for what life is like, from my experience and what I grew up (from my late childhood to part of my teens and early adulthood) around out there, its pretty much the same as living in california. same type of people, same type of fukkery and shootings. Granted, I lived off and on out by Killingsworth, so my experience probably isn't the same for others who lived out there

It depends on where your at, Generally cacs ain't gonna fukk with you unless your in the wonderbread areas. Tho with the stabbings that happened on the Max (Light Rail), you gotta watch for the cac tweakers and out of towners. :manny:

Mostly its nothin but love for cali folk. Though there is some tension with the older cats towards bay brehs. Mainly because the Lil Smurf thing that happened in the 90s.

Generally, if you show love you finna get love back.
