Space is the Place

We last covered Stillman College of Tuscaloosa, Alabama with an average score of 7.25.
We now head back to North Carolina to look at Saint Augustine's University, a small but historic university in Raleigh. Another early Reconstruction college, it was founded by Episcopal clergy in 1867 to help educated freed slaves. It has been primarily a liberal arts university but has long had a health department founded originally as a school for nurses. It was also the first HBCU to have its own commercial radio and TV stations. It is co-located with the Black neighborhoods of Idlewild and College Park in Raleigh.
In sports it is outstanding in NCAA Division II track and field having won 16 national championships in that division, the second highest of any NCAA Div II school.
Also in the fall of 2021 it wiped the tuition balance clean for its students using financial aid and gifts from the previous two years.
