Above the fray.
Good stuff. Also credit to the admin. at Alcorn. Her gifts were unrestricted, so each institution decided where the money would be best spent.

I must say it was a precarious time for that administration. There was immense pressure for the president to spend it. But they stuck to their guns and it has set the institution up for a prosperous future. partly why they are no longer there

Wow. Great leadership, that will pay dividends well into the future.

Alumni and non affiliated people see what the leaders do, and don't do with a once in a lifetime donation.
And that will inform their decisions to send their kids there, or donate in the future.

This exchange was about the previous donation. The people in charge during that time did the right thing with the funding, and it ended paying dividends in the form of the new donation.

If short sighted folks or those with bad intentions were in charge then, they would have squandered the money, and the school would have missed out.

I respect their leadership so much, the connections made and the foresight. We are officially over the 100 million dollar Endowment amount with a 3k enrollment. :damn: The money will stretch tremendously. Alcorn will be a force to contend with in Southwest MS for decades now because of their fortitude and sacrifice
