She's a studio singer at best....

I like several of her songs but she is not someone who I think of as this great artist

I'm not talking about the producers I'm talking about the BEATS.

She sang over instantly recognizable hip hop classics.

And yeah, Rude Boy, Rehab, Needed Me, Man Down, bytch Betta Have My Money, What's My Name, Pour It Up...

I would barely call her a studio artist because her cd vocals are heavily autotuned and pitch corrected.

You can not like the songs you named all you want but they were hits and a whole lot of people love them.

Guarantee those songs get way more of a reaction to this day in any club in the world over all those Ashanti songs you named.

You can literally do an hour long Rihanna set and have the club rockin the entire time covering multiple genres.

Rihanna rode the edm, pop wave hard (i.e. Diamonds, Please Dont Stop...) while ashanti makes rnb records so I'd also argue rih's music is more fitting for a club setting

But if I'm just cleaning up, cruising, trying to zone out, etc i prefer ashanti ...

Maybe iam in the minority and maybe it's a generational thing

Just find rihanna music too generic. Lacks emotion... on top of her being a weak vocalist

I'll end my piece by giving my opinion that Ashanti is a weaker vocalist and I'd definitely put Ri's music on before Ashanti's in any given situation, but peace though..

she has a unique color to her tone due to probably her accent and physical frame which does impact your voice

overall in just talent her voice is probably average. I would have to hear her in front of me to tell

I think we could all find a young lady in church today with more overall vocal talent tbh

but she's got sex appeal which can't be ignored ... and this isn't an era where vocal gymnastics is necessary to make hit songs

her stats prove that.. she deserves to be on top in this era..
