Its definitely a cheat code, especially considering her songs came out 10 years or less after the originals.
Irv knew what he was doing.
He followed the Puff model and she really hasn't made any noise at all since she left Murder Inc.
She's an IG model now.
You can not like the songs you named all you want but they were hits and a whole lot of people love them.
Guarantee those songs get way more of a reaction to this day in any club in the world over all those Ashanti songs you named.
You can literally do an hour long Rihanna set and have the club rockin the entire time covering multiple genres.
They both had their advantages over the competition, benefited from having great teams at one point
Rihanna is a pretty green eyed, light skin girl from the islands she has a broader appeal than most other blk female singers including Ashanti...LA Reid, Hov, Jay Brown knew what they were doin. They werent impressed with her vocals lol
And low key think her relationship with Chris was a boost to her career as well
Rihanna rode the edm, pop wave hard (i.e. Diamonds, Please Dont Stop...) while ashanti makes rnb records so I'd also argue rih's music is more fitting for a club setting
But if I'm just cleaning up, cruising, trying to zone out, etc i prefer ashanti ...
Maybe iam in the minority and maybe it's a generational thing
Just find rihanna music too generic. Lacks emotion... on top of her being a weak vocalist
