Don't forget the oline situation. Refusing to bring in guys to make it a competition, staying with a lineman who blocks his own team more than he blocks the opponent, and an oline that constantly gets bad penalties at the worst moments. And that doesn't begin to sum up the problems with the Ravens. I like Harbs but if we're being real, he's underachieved a lot. He's had too much talent on his teams to only make it to 1 Superbowl.
By early December of 2024, 3 of the ravens starting offensive linemen were among the 10 most penalized players in the league. If you want to point to something that shows lack of discipline, that’s it. Holding penalties and pre snap penalties kill drives dead and their linemen commit them more than any others.
Underachieving was the theme of his career.
Should’ve been the 1 seed and at least reached the Super Bowl in 2010. Instead they were the 5 seed and lost in the divisional round.
Should’ve been the 1 seed and won the Super Bowl in 2011. Ended up the 2 seed and gagged away the afc title game.
Should’ve been division champs in 2014 and at least reached the afc title game. Settled for 3rd in the north and blew multiple 14 point 2nd half leads in the divisional round.
Should’ve clinched the north in week 14-15 of the 2016 season. Instead the Steelers knocked them out and took the north on Christmas night.
Should’ve made the playoffs in 2017. A non playoff team scored a 50 yard touchdown on 4th down in week 17 at home to knock them out.
Should’ve won it all as the 1 seed in 2019. Got their asses kicked by a 9-7 squad at home in the divisional round.
Should’ve won it all as the 1 seed in 2023. Had the worst coaching performance of all time en route to losing the afc title game after playing it at home for the first time in team history.
Should’ve at least been in the afc title game in 2024. Bad route running, bad snaps, bad defense, fumbles, & drops ended their season in the divisional round instead.
The main core in the Ravens thread including you and I been saying that.
The national media ain't gonna call him out for continuing to start Faalele and Vorhees
Harbaugh got Lamar Jackson injured
His refusal to bench bad players always came back to bite him. 2014 was defined by his refusal to bench Matt Elam, Frank Walker, and Rashaan Melvin. Those 3 were the guys most responsible for their playoff loss to New England. His insistence on making Michael Oher a left tackle cost them games repeatedly during his time on the team. These were all over the top, but refusing to bench the 2 worst offensive linemen (at least Faalele anyway) in the league essentially and it getting his quarterback injured was his worst offense yet on this front.
