Im betting our opener is against a nfc team...probably ATL, SF, or GB

First, you guys play the NFC north this year I believe. So you will not be playing ATL or SF this year unless it is in the SB.

In the past 10 years there have only been two cross conference games to open the season. And only 1 cross conference game since the NFL changed the season opener to the SB winner hosting(2004)..

2002 - Jets VS Skins(Non Defending SB)

2007 Colts Vs Saints..

It will be between the Pats, Steelers or GB...

It'll be either against the Pats or Packers. Either matchup is bigger than doing a Ravens/Steelers opener

I don't think ATL/SF are on the schedule (at least the home one anyway)...those would be great choices otherwise, though.

Guessing it'll be NE, GB, or maybe PIT in a s/o to the longtime rivalry. Loooong shot could be MIN (MVPeterson v. the champs).

Who you calling washed up nikka, we had a bad year and still went .500

we will see how yall nikkas do without your top 2 defensive players. 3rd place in the division, im calling it

The nfl should always open the season with th esuper bowl champs playing the team they beat in the championship game.... Provided they play that team and provided they play that team at home.

Should def be Pat's vs Ravens on Thursday night to open the season.

Ed Reed goes home:ahh:

Looks like there's a conflict due to the fact that they share a parking lot with the Orioles.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said the team has offered to compensate their baseball neighbors for any lost revenue. Orioles owner Peter Angelos couldn’t be reached for comment and Greg Bader, the Orioles’ vice president for marketing and public relations, declined comment. However, a team source said the Orioles’ reticence to move the game to earlier in the day is a baseball issue, not a financial one. Orioles officials don’t think they could get the required approval from the White Sox, the league and the players’ association to change the game time.

“It doesn’t just involve the Orioles. There is another team,” said Katy Feeney, MLB’s senior vice president for club relations and scheduling. “I think mainly, from a baseball standpoint, to make that change is extremely difficult.”

The Orioles — and the White Sox for that matter — play the previous night in other cities, which would cause a tough turn-around for both teams.
...

The most obvious solution would be moving the football game up to Wednesday, Sept. 4, but Goodell said the league has ruled that out because it conflicts with the first night of Rosh Hashanah. The NFL has played games on the first night of holiday before, including last season when the San Francisco 49ers hosted the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football on Sept. 16.

However, the season’s first game is a little bit different because the NFL turns it into a football festival of sorts with parties and concerts.

Looks like they'll be opening on the road. :mjpls:

It seems to involve more than the Orioles; it involves the type of schedules teams can play as agreed to by MLB and the MLBPA, plus both teams are in different cities the night before.

edit- Maybe it's just excuses from Angelos, I don't know.

the NFL need to have the Ravens open their season against the Pats next season.

The hate is now sky high and would be a great start to the season.

:jawalrus:

we dont need to see that type of azz whopping on national tv

ill be surprised if the nfl has the ravens in even one nationally televised game

Play the game on the Friday or Saturday. I couldn't care less really!

If not Thursday make it happen any other night.

NFL can not have games on Friday or Saturday when college and high school football are going on....

Have you ever wondered why the NFL broadcasts games on Thursday night instead of Friday? Or, why they only play Saturday games late in December? The answer lies in the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961("SBA")i which prevents NFL broadcasts from competing with college football games.
