“I know that Commissioner Goodell is trying to get [the Orioles] to move their game up so the Ravens fans can host their team opening the season,” Kraft revealed. “But right now, I don’t think the baseball team there has been willing to change the time of the game.”

That means the Ravens would still open the season, but in all likelihood, on the road. If a deal can be struck to allow the Ravens to host the NFL’s season opener, Kraft believes their opponent will be his Patriots in a rematch of the 2012 and 2011 AFC Championship Games.

“I’d be surprised if we’re not the opening opponent for Baltimore on Thursday night,” he predicted.

“It would be so exciting for our organization, our fans, if we could open up there,” Kraft paused, smiling, before adding, “and hopefully have the right result this time.”

If they can't put the Ravens on that night, just give it to someone else who made the playoffs like the Niners, Seahawks, Falcons, Patriots, whatever. This tradition isn't that old to be something worth crying over. Defending champs have opened on the road before. Other teams have played in that opening game spot as well.
Not a big deal.

Put someone else there and givem them their home opener Week 2 on MNF and they can still have that all day party they want.

Know what? This whole controversy is a joke. They've played the season opener on a Wednesday before, the city parking lots they share will be free on Wednesday, the league has played games on the opening night on Rosh Hashanah before (last season), they just want to pick a fight for no reason with the Orioles, who have already scheduled their spot for the night.

Goodell is a joke. Sounds like he's been listening to some of his fringe fans (NFL only) a little too much.

Man, its baseball. The Orioles can just play a double header on Saturday or Sunday during the weekend. That's 1 of 162. This NFL game is 1 of 16. Much bigger deal.

:what:
They share the facilities and the Orioles scheduled it first. They have no reason to move out of that spot.
The NFL has the option to move the game to Wednesday, as they have done before. And the Rosh Hashanah excuse is garbage, since they play on Thanksgiving and Christmas. And they scheduled a game during the opening night of Rosh Hashanah (Lions-9ers) just last year!

Sounds like Goodell's on the @kingofnyc "make war with baseball" plan.
