He makes a great point about media and how people can be so sheepish in following them. The NBA is so star driven that it lends itself to bandwagoners more than any other sport. No data, this is purely anecdotal, but most NBA fans are fans of players. The follow their favorite player rather than a team. Not to say the same doesn't happen in other sports but it seems like people are more home-team oriented in other sports.
