I mean what states are not compliant? Feel like I've been hearing this for over a decade and I've had my Real ID DL for a decade or more (did the last renewal online because of it)

Real IDs are not mandatory at the state level. I got a real ID but there's always been an option to opt out of that

I get having the option, when I say compliant Im more so saying are there states that don't have it available yet? I feel the last 10-15 yrs was pretty much getting everyone ready

yeah I`m like anyone not compliant at this point would just be someone with an expired license?

I think every state has it. But to get it you gotta carry in your passport or birth certificate + social security card or some other proof of citizenship, to the DMV. I guess for some people it's a hassle so they just renew the DL without upgrading it

I never got the enhanced ID from NY (allows you to drive into Canada without a passport), because they got some extra requirements too

Whats gets me is , to get my drivers license i needed , birth certificate, Social Security card, and billing address in the late 90s to get my license,,

I also went through drivers education from my school and have a certificate””

Its like im reapplying again,,

Unless some states were issueing out ID and and drivers license at some point without verification
