So long as technology keep advancing pc's are always going to have the advantage of being modified to keep up. Until consoles give that flexibility there's always going to be concessions made due to console limitations.
Three comes a point where a mid level pc still making games look incredible. The best pc graphics right now gonna be next gen on ps5. We gonna WIN.

Consoles probably wont have 4K until next gen which is 2019ish by that time it may be Quantum vision.

You all don't know the power of the PC brehs. There's no comparison.

Dropped 2k for my shyt back in summer of 2013, still killing everything I throw at it. :lawd:

i7-4770
3x 770GTX SLI (2 770 and 1 680. Bios modded the 680gtx cuz its a rehash, disabled turbo boost 2.0 and modded the voltage)
16gb DDR3
256gb Samsung 840pro SSD
1200w seasonic psu
(had a shyt iphone back then)

But even with Triple SLI, 4k is still a reach (especially due to the 2gb frame buffer limit).
I don't game much at all anymore tho. Mainly digital art, run different media servers, bitcoin mine (bout to get out of the bitcoin hustle tho)
Gonna do a new build in 2016, same budget. If you do a build every 3 years, you'll always be at the enthusiast level.

Gonna possibly go AMD with the new build, but I need more than 4GB on the new HBM memory architecture. I want something 4K ready. :ld:

They actually probably never will, and I can breakdown why if you want me to.

Please do the technology for 4K screens are dropping but the only thing holding it back is processor power right?

Pretty much. Resolution is handled almost entirely by the GPU. There is no reason for them to go to 4k and put 8x more strain on the gpu when it would directly reduce their capability to have more "eye candy" on screen. Developers have already demonstrated to us (with games that drop down to 900p and 720p dynamically) that resolution is the least of their concerns. Anisotropic filtering, Anti-Aliasing, Ambient Occlusion, HDR lighting, etc. These are all things that you can sell to a consumer in pictures and video.

If i'm watching your 4k commercial on my 1080p screen, you cant sell me 4k. Its like trying to sell me surround sound when I'm listening on a mono output.

People assume that an adundance of 4k screens and TVs in the future will force the change, but there will always be the tradeoff of eye candy vs resolution. Honestly, if they could drop down to 640p and have it be unnoticed by the masses to get more on screen effects, they will.

Until developers change their mindset as to what is important in graphical fidelity, 4K will never happen.

Look at the fps debate, people were saying that in 2015 60fps would be a standard.

Breh we have AAA console games running at 20fps:huhldup:

It has less to do with the technology, and more to do with development idealogy.

Not spending thousands on a top of the line line pc and I won't get a lower end pc because I would spend all my time trying to troubleshoot the damn thing to get a new game to run properly. I know in the long run pc is cheaper but I'd rather spend a few dollars here and there. Don't play games as much as I used to and don't have time to try to keep up with a gaming pc. I'm fine with just being able to pop in a game and play with my friends easily on console even if the graphics are not up to par with pc.
