I'm sitting up here sipping listening to the best of bob Marley, and I'm not seeing what the hype is. Outside of his popular songs the rest is pretty wack, its sorta like prince discography

Everyone gonna have different taste which is all good, but personally I'd advise to listen to the whole discography, he has a lot of great and classic songs that weren't his biggest, he has 1 of the greatest discographies and is 1 of the greatest artists of all time to me, content, purity, melody, knowledge, power, fun, he had so much as an artist, have had days where have listened to nothing but Bob, his music is therapeutic to me, it's certainly 1 of the most valuable discographies to me I have and have ever heard.

you have to feel it to understand. His music is awesome, but it's not "walking around town" awesome. That said there are other classic reggae artist you can try. Peter Tosh is pretty great.
