Personal preference is Aaliyah, I prefer they type of music she made.

Beyonce would still be just as famous. She is great at getting peoples attention and pleasing womenfolk/gays.

Destiny Child was bigger than Aaliyah when she was alive so of course. Aaliayh would be Ciara if she was alive. :shaq2: Since this chicks died yall acted like this she was Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey/Janet Jackson level when she was alive. She was a 2nd tier female artist. Brandy was bigger

Man, what???? Around the time of Aaliyah's passing, D.C was preparing to drop "survivor" and "independent woman", which were world wide smashes that launched the group into superstardom, and positioned Bey as the future pop megastar she would eventually become. What in the hell would Aaliyah have done to stop all that? Aaliyah was the one destined for "black community" famous, and probably had already peaked as an artist.

The better question would be would Ciera have become as famous as she did, considering she jacked Aaliyah's style almost to a tee, and not so coincidentally used Missy Elliot to help rocket her career. If you notice that camp tried very hard to replace Aaliyah after her passing with artists like Tweet and whatnot..

Another better comparison would be Ashanti (similar name too)...similar look, cant dance, light in the ass singer, coc00ned within a crew of rappers and artists (murder inc) like the Virginia Crew of Tim/Magoo/Genuine/Elliot.
True, but that was D.C. Do you think beyonce could have survived on her own with Aaliyah? I'm assuming Jay-Z marries her and not Bey if she is still around.

Beyonce to destiny's child was like Diana Ross to the supremes. It was was always "Beyonce and Destiny's child" as she was the clear star of the act, and from day one was being groomed as a solo mega pop star. Thats why there was so much discord between the group, and constant rotation of other girls in and out. The other girls couldnt stand that the one and only priority was Beyonce (kelly rowland knew her role and eventually michelle who both played the background) and they bounced because of it.

Aaliyah was never a dominant star as a personality or performer. Beyonce was set on being a star, Aaliyah seemed to care little about her position within the industry, and was more concerned with getting her back blown out and passed around by Dame Dash and Jay. I love Aaliyah, but she was an underwhelming talent that was carried to greatness by R Kelly and later Tim. Bey has always been in a class by herself, and maniacally driven to be world famous and nobody was stoppin that.

im pretty sure tweet was in that camp before aaliyah breh. and they have no similarities whatsoever.

ashanti actually writes most of her own records and she had a bigger career than aaliyah. and the swing mob was moreso an r&b crew. they had no standing in hip-hop.

ehh, wouldnt stop ciara either because ciara can put on a show.

Damn :lolbron:
In seriousness, I can't disagree with with this. I would hope that Aaliyah would focus on her music as she got older, seeing as becoming a big actor is way hard then most give it credit for.

Beyonce would be famous, "black community" famous like ciara or monica, not worldwide famous like today. Jay-Z =and his producing were also a big part.

destinys child was doing primetime concert specials on FOX while aaliyah was making struggle-singles.

what producing did jay-z ever do for anybody?

:wtf: did i just read?:wtf:

She wasn't that great. :beli:

This. Her voice sounded ok, when she wasn't dancing & she was a great dancer but she couldn't do both in the same performance. Beyonce can dance & still sound amazing.

she wasnt a good dancer either. couldnt even keep up with any of her backup dancers. i remember that one video where she had the struggle-face trying to do the routine.

who that in ur avi tho?:lupe:

The whole " Aaliyah stopping x____ artist" stuff was something I never agreed with in the first place for any artist, and I explained as much. Im just speculating on perhaps degrees of stardom with artists who emerged after Aaliyah who had similar styles and image that she did. There was definitely a vacuum created after her passing that some filled, like Ashanti, but Beyonce was never one of them because she was going for the Black Madonna/Next Janet Jackson lane. Im positive she wasnt even thinking about no Aaliyah even when ol girl was alive.
