Meek competing with so far gone tho breh :wow: meek shyt hot tho just in my opinion not better than drake but I can see how your opinion is different cause meek flamed some shyt :whew:

So Far Gone is cool but there's some soft music on there too. both are different styles but i'm not sure if a diehard hip hop fan would like it.

Ross' technicial ability is pretty good, i never hear his rapping at a rapid rate before but dude got sick flow. Meek washes him on a technical level.

Yea Ross' technical ability is very good, and it pretty much always has been. That's why I'm saying he didn't need to grow as much as Meek. Meek came into the game pretty much a one trick pony, now he's using extremely complex flows, rhyme schemes, multi's etc. And yea at this point Meek def washes him on a technical level.

I mean, yeah, Drake's best work is So Far Gone but what does that say about him? That he's gotten worse? He hasn't been able to put a great body of work together since. All of Drake's output since has been pretty good to good. Nothing outstanding.

I feel like Meek is getting better as an overall artist and his songwriting is improving. I still feel like we haven't seen the best that Meek can do. I think we've seen the ceiling for Drake frankly.

Those 4/4 tapes are some of his best work, and he's only gotten bigger since the whole Drake situation.

He's looking at big numbers with his next project no matter what.

I hope so, I'm a fan of both. But I still think he would be bigger if he had that dual Drake/Nicki co-sign to crossover to the pop audience :yeshrug:

A lot of white non-hiphop fans know him now, that's true, but they just know him as the guy in all the Drake memes. That ain't making him any extra money :mjcry:

On KRS One's nose, eating sunflower seeds.
Meek has had a great career, he's a great rapper. He has been holding it down for years, he has a GREAT ear for beats (now better than Ross) and he is one of the few rappers who can switch flows and styles to ride the beats. Meek isn't my favorite but to me he doesn't get the respect that he deserves and he always gets play in the gym while I'm working out, old music to new music. He was better when he wasn't as rich, he needs to work on his subject matter a little, he fell out of his element and into today's nonsensical subject matter style. He needs to go back to street stories, "I'm better than you" raps, and just spitting hard street stuff....not too much Auedemar watch rhymes, Rollie, and jewels raps.

Cole is known as a lyricist, Drake isn't (neither is Meek)..an artist who's been proven to use writers with leaked reference tracks can never be known as a lyricist or compared to one of the better lyricists of his time. Now I'm not gona discredit everything Drake's done cause I know he's written his own shyt and is nice with it, but he's not known as a lyricist, there's no arguing that.

And Ross isn't part of the same class as Meek, Cole, and Drake, and even if he was I don't think he's shown as much growth as Meek. When Meek started (youtube freestyle days, he was bubbling in Philly long before the rest of the world knew about him) no one thought he could even make a song, Ross has been pretty much the same artist from day one.
No he hasn't been.

No one has improved as much as Ross.

Meek is literally the same rapper he's been since he joined MMG

Thats why I said he peaked on Self Made 1 and DC2

Ask people to name their 5 favorite and most undeniable Meek Songs/verses 95% will be around this time because Meek was fresh and his energy was exciting.

Then the more content the more we see how shallow of an artist he is.

If you see one of my other posts I clarified that I was talking in a technical ability sense, not conceptually, I know Ross has improved with pretty much every album in terms of his concepts and song writing, but I meant flow, rhyme schemes, etc. Ross was on point with that shyt from the beginning, where as Meek was a one trick pony out the gate, but he's improved vastly in terms of technical skills.

Meek's concepts have pretty much stayed the same, but he's light years ahead as a songwriter (not concepts of songs but how they're structured), also with his flows, rhyme schemes, multi's all that shyt.

As for Meek's 5 best (or people's 5 favorites) songs, I disagree I think a lot of people would name a a song or two off DWMTM, at least I would, and possibly even a song or two off these last two EP releases.
