i been thinking about this all month. I believe he represents the mediocre cacs so they love him. He doesn’t do anything special or unique, he talks about dusty all the time and that’s it. Lmaooo. May as well call him Cody Aprille Jr.
I'll let @Brad Piff defend this since before Cody Rhodes returned to WWE (while he was with AEW) he said Cody Rhodes was an "embarrassment to the wrestling business", "biggest loudmouth aew founder", "TNA 2.0 except TNA was better", "Imagine having Sting, Jericho, Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, Rusev, Cody Rhodes, MJF, OC, FTR, Pentagon & Fenix, SCU, Adam Page and Matt Hardy and you can only beat the show featuring Austin Theory, Tyler Rust, Shotzi, Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne, Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm by 40K".i been thinking about this all month. I’m actually surprised he’s this over. That BC rub helped him out.![]()
Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley both. Brock but he probably shouldn't count.I’m not a big fan of dude like that but I think people fukk with him so heavily because he left WWE after having issues with the way he was being presented, completely reinvented himself, did the Indys/Japan and helped jumpstart AEW, and then returned to WWE a bigger star than ever before and basically forced them to put him in the position he wanted to be in the first time around
Regardless of how anyone feels about him talent wise, that’s super respectable. He bet on himself and won, now he’s reaping the benefits. That’s dope
He’s not the first example of a guy getting over outside of WWE and coming back in better a position but I can’t think of many dudes who straight up quit the company, left and became megastars, and then returned to be mania main eventers
