i been thinking about this all month. I believe he represents the mediocre cacs so they love him. He doesn’t do anything special or unique, he talks about dusty all the time and that’s it. Lmaooo. May as well call him Cody Aprille Jr.

I'll let @Brad Piff defend this since before Cody Rhodes returned to WWE (while he was with AEW) he said Cody Rhodes was an "embarrassment to the wrestling business", "biggest loudmouth aew founder", "TNA 2.0 except TNA was better", "Imagine having Sting, Jericho, Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, Rusev, Cody Rhodes, MJF, OC, FTR, Pentagon & Fenix, SCU, Adam Page and Matt Hardy and you can only beat the show featuring Austin Theory, Tyler Rust, Shotzi, Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne, Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm by 40K".

I'll speak for myself...

I hated Cody when he left, he was corny and his look sucked. I loved Dashing Cody Rhodes as a character, I loved undashing, but he was IC title ceiling to me period. When he left I was done and glad he left..

In short though...he did the work. The same way that drew McIntyre, and Bobby lashley were more over when they got back...there is a respect fans have for people who have done the work and come back or like AJ styles, show up in WWE for the first time. Fans respect the seasoned people who have done the work. And, WWE presents him AS A BIG DEAL. Combine those things and you have a main eventer.

I can't explain how Sean Hannity has the most watched show on tv and all he does does is be white, say punk ass shyt, and make this face :dwillhuh:

For real, Big Dusty got shytted on and held down by Vince and the Hulkster back in the day. Watching Cody bring home the belt means a lot to that old school wrestling crew. Plus that move from AEW got the IWC buzzing.

Cody is a fresh face who hasn't been jobbed out to Roman. They desperately need another main event star, especially one that's a babyface to do promotional stuff. I'm cool with it even though it would make more sense for Sami to take the belt off Roman.

Maybe they can break the titles up and do two matches.

Edit: They gonna have another Cena rather we like it or not.

I’m not a big fan of dude like that but I think people fukk with him so heavily because he left WWE after having issues with the way he was being presented, completely reinvented himself, did the Indys/Japan and helped jumpstart AEW, and then returned to WWE a bigger star than ever before and basically forced them to put him in the position he wanted to be in the first time around

Regardless of how anyone feels about him talent wise, that’s super respectable. He bet on himself and won, now he’s reaping the benefits. That’s dope

He’s not the first example of a guy getting over outside of WWE and coming back in a better position but I can’t think of many dudes who straight up quit the company, left and became megastars, and then returned to be mania main eventers immediately without WWE having to rebuild them. He walked right back into the door and was the biggest face on the roster from the second his music hit at mania

i don't have a problem with his current run, his AEW promos were terrible and self indulgent, at least we know WWE aint allowing that kind of free reign

“represents the mediocre cacs…” :mjlol: :dead:

I’m actually surprised he’s this over. That BC rub helped him out. :youngsabo:
*fixed

There was no AEW rub lol

But yeahhh him joining Elite/BC did wonders for him and it took Hangman Page from a bum ass nobody into a wrestling star.

Hard to say where he’d be without them because his TNA run was ass and would have probably killed his career without them.

The crowd is going to eventually turn on Cody. Probably a few weeks or maybe 1-2 feuds after he becomes champion. His promos are so smug & narcissistic that I honestly don't understand how the crowd is cheering him as a babyface. Maybe it's still the honeymoon of him being back / him getting immediately injured from his initial return.

Anyway, his character & promos are going to wear down on fans after awhile. The difference now is, will he embrace being a heel in WWE? Because he flat out refused to turn heel in AEW which made the end of his run so much more worse.

Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley both. Brock but he probably shouldn't count.

Cody is following the John Cena blueprint. Appeal to kids, present a character that’s white meat with a pinch of edge, do the Make a Wish circuit and let the machine do it’s job in bridging you over to Hollywood.

I doubt Cody cares about being booed by a bunch of neckbeards, because that’s what neckbeards do. As long as the kids and woman are on his side, he’s as good a gold.
