I dont think they were slept on cuz they've always got their props. I just think that producers werent as popular in that era as they are now

good call, i was just saying how hip hop now, for me atleast, is in the production. One example would be canibus, dope lyricist, awful beats and now young thug, dude just mumbles but the beats knock and i love it.

They made hits but alot of their production peaked in the shiny suit/jiggy era and aged horribly.

They made songs with Biggie, Kool G Rap, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Heavy D, Chubb Rock, LL Cool J, Faith Evans before the shiny suit era.

I think their beats aged great, Neptunes and Timbo have a lot of beats that sound worse compared to them IMO.

They were greats, but after 1997, they struggled to shift their sound because Timbaland, The Neptunes, Swizz, and Mannie Fresh became dominant. There was also what Dre did with 2001.

Love their work 1994-1997 when they just flipped old R&B joints for rappers ie. "LL Cool J - Loungin Remix" and old Rap joints for R&B singers ie. "Total - No One Else".
