The Land That Time Forgot
I was inspired by that cornball Eric Andre's thread with the Instagram thots.

But back in the '80s & '90s, there used to be a ton of funny ass REAL nikka comedians like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Bernie Mac, Charlie Barnett, Chris Tucker, Joe Torrey, Martin Lawrence, Michael Colyer, Cedric the Entertainer, etc. . .

Those type of comedians used to be everywhere, but now all we get is those whitewashed CAC comedians in Blackface like Key & Peele, Eric Andre, Hannibal Burress, Ron Funches, etc. . . who got a ton of CAC fans and Twitter follwers.

But I'm asking, who are the real nikkaz of today still putting it down.

I do kinda fukks with Corey Holcomb and Deon Cole, but who else is really out there these days?

The Def Comedy Jam and Comic View were extensions of the 'hood Black comedy scene launched in the 1980s by the Comedy Act Theater in South Central L.A. The Comedy Act birthed Robin Harris and a whole new wave of comedians.

I know that there are tours that go out with Holcomb, Sommore and Tony Rock to name a few, but where is
the "scene" that you can develop an act today?

Everywhere...You never there.
the new generation of black comedians have been socialized differently :sas2:

You really gotta come from it and/or had some measure of exposure to it to effectively joke about it.:sas2:

And now the audience is different, too...:sas2:

Gassin' up and laughin' at the jokes of these inauthentic guys...:sas2:

that's why we always need gatekeepers to vet and critique these folks and make sure they're reppin' the struggle right...

Slowly they're trying to take this shyt away... and strip our uniqueness ...can't let that happen. Need continued platforms for the authentic to rep the struggle correctly.

Dave Chappelle has a huge white following. He was a white people staple. His Chapelle show was c00nery. And this is coming from a person that enjoys some of his stand up work and perspective on things. Dave is one of the safest comedians out there he's never distributed straight vitriol like patrice o Neal or Eddie Griffin. :mjlol:

Yall bringing up dave chappelle leaving money on the table and you can give him credit for that sure
but that was because he was salty when he realized white people were laughing AT his caricatures of black characters
i give him credit for having integrity after realizing he was a glorified c00n

as far as his material being cac safe......he literally had a WHITE dude helping him come up with content, it was cac safe cause it discussed race in a way that was digestable for cacs.
burress and carmichael do the same thing to all white audiences right now (watched carmichael 8 last night and it was pure trash)

There's a lot of funny dudes on youtube, some of them do stand up too. Hope they gain more love and popularity, they deserve it. I know Niles was/is on Atlanta.

Call Him Renny, Reggie Couz, Jeffrey Almonte/ReyRoSho, Haha Davis, THEREALBNARD, Lean and Cuisine, Nilessey Niles, RDCWorld, Berleezy, Larry Starks, Lenarr, Dope Island, Chris Clarke, Clyde Webb, etc.

Bunch of talented black folks on youtube in various different avenues.

[He talked] first about Bruce Jenner… saying he was old enough to remember Bruce as a “Superman” who was “beating Africans” in track and field back in the ’70s. He said he knew there was a change coming though after a run-in with Kanye West. “I said, Kanye… why the long face? And Kanye replied, ‘Man, you’ll see.'” (Via TMZ)
Dave got in trouble for this joke and has been called a homophobe as well as Transphobic.

Sorry breh. The demand for stereotypical black comedy is relatively low in this day and time. Nobody wants to hear "real nikka" jokes.

Who says it has to be stereotypical? Just real about the hood experience. Was Eddie Murphy & Chris Rock stereotypical when they were young?

Dave Chappelle happened. Funny you included him in your list
With the exception of Kevin Hart all these new popular and CAC safe comedians are from the Dave Chappelle tree imo (hannibal burress, jarrod carmicheal, etc)
White people like them and in the eyes of enlightened white liberals with black friends *coughneilbrennancough* they don't act too "nikkaish" in their stand up like def comedy jam or king of comedy type dudes do

Chappelle when he was young was a disciple of Charlie Barnett, one of the realest nikkaz to ever do comedy. Watch "Killing Em Softly".

Safe enough for him to get rich off them
every frat boy in america was saying 'fukk yo couch' man. dave chappelle was the first modern black comedian where random white people at work would be talking about him man, to be fair it was probably mostly from his show . his style of comedy is more appealing to white people and hence why burress and carmicheal are damn near carbon copies and have mostly white fanbases

Every nikka in the hood watched "Chappelle Show", don't compare him to those nikkaz.

You're not gonna go to the barber shop talking about no fukkin' Hannibal Burress or Carmichael. We used to have fukking Chappelle show group viewings back in the day. Those bootleg DVDs used to be in EVERY corner store, gas station, and hair place in the hood. That's nothing like the nikkaz.

Now, I will give you that Chappelle had crossover appeal, but that's not because he was corny, it's just that like Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, etc. . , he was so funny, he wasn't limited to the hood.

The illest thing about it is the comparison to rap. If a old nikka bring up the fact that "mainstream rap" is garbage the first thing nikkas will say is...well shyt, play that old shyt and shut the fukk up. RIGHT. Ok then go pop in your comic view VHS from 97 and have fun. I ain't trying to see or hear the same acts 5 comedians in a row, talking about how they got beat growing up, or how it was in the hood, etc.. nikkas finally evolving and yall want the same shyt from 35 yrs ago. Pryor did it in Stand up. Murphy did it in stand up. Foxx did it on TV and set a standard that hasn't been replicated since. Just duplicated.

nikka, the hood is still the fukkin' hood. Comedians talk about what's going on now. You aint gotta talk about what was goin' on in the hood in 1996. Talk about what's goin' on in the hood in 2017.

Now, this is the problem. Lo-key, this the most important post in this thread.

We don't call fake nikkaz out no more.

WE stopped doing that in rap too, which is why a cornball ass Canadian Jew is running our culture now. Authenticity aint even important no more
