I haven't even listened to the bolded to be honest. I kind of lost interest in what he was putting out musically after Be.

Try them out bro, Finding Forever is basically Be 2.0 and Dreamer / Believer is Commons best album since Be, whole thing produced by NO I.D. if I remember correctly.

Finding Forever:

Dreamer Believer:

Cats like him and more importantly LL and Cube should have their legacies dismissed just cause they went into movies when their discographies were as strong as they are. LL and Cube especially should always be in top 10 convos. But we got 2 dead guys always in there instead over them when they designed them tw other guys blueprint and did it longer but I digress.

Just as a B-boy, rapper, freestyle artist, live show microphone controller, Common is shifting on your favorite rapper and definitely on most of these newer 'emcees.'

Not even getting into content and having the exact image that a lot of rap fans profess they want from less thoughtful rappers.

All this other stuff is inconsequential to me.

Common in any era should get a nod for top 20 if not 10.

I know Electric Circus aint his most popular album, but Com was SPITTIN heavy on that album. nikkas get
caught up in the teal knitted hemp pants and veggie burger shyt she was on but lyrically - he was a monster on
that shyt.

One thing I noticed is that over the years it doesnt seem like he writes his lyrics anymore. His shyt is really simple
nowadays. Like he writes in the booth at the mic. He probably doesnt have the time.

shyt i dont either.. but once you go hollywood or get comfortable money wise.. you lose the passion for the craft... Hov is one of the only people i know that still loves hiphop to the point where he can still drop quality music every year..

FIXED

All seriousness.. Common is my favorite MC ... I like Common since I saw him in unsigned hype in the Source... also there was a write up about his soul by the pound remix and the wrote out the lyircs "give me a T O like chris webber" ... I was like OHHHHH that hot ... I was working outside of Boston that summer and a nikka wa starving to find a hiphop station or mix similiar to stretch and bobbito ... I finally found a station (all fuzzy and full of static) they just so happened to play the song ... and even since then ...

One day ... is his best work to me because 75% of the subject matter is the same stuff I was going through so it hit close to heart ...

Don't really fukk with his albums except be and finding forever- which are personal classics and are easily the top albums post 2000.

Maybe top 20-30 rap artist if I was forced to pick.

Yeah. I feel that. He switched up his style on Electric Circus. I honestly haven't even listened to that album in full. I remember when it came out. It had rock musician and live instruments and members of Stereolab on it. It just seemed confusing. So Be was essentially just an extension of that only it sounded good for the time. I personally wasn't really feeling it that much aside from a couple of tracks (the ones produced by Dilla).

All his best work in my opinion is in the 90s and early 00s. That's it really.
I hated Electric Circus when it came out. I revisited it about a year ago and was blown away by how good it is. Still not the best Common album, but the sound was ahead of its time.

I still think highly of him. Don't care about all that stuff. With the exception of UMC, i still think all of his music has stayed true to who he is. He's just kind of changed his music up as the game as changed and has he's gotten older. He's still probs in my top 10, and LWFC is probably one of my top 10 fav albums, kept that shyt in heavy rotation.

And OP how you gonna ignore that he still makes songs like this?

Well he's still top 10. The dreamer was very good. and he still has a few classics like LWFC,BE,CIB,Res, So I see no issues with Com. A few misssteps but not much in the grand scheme of his discog.
