Not on a technical level, but I'd say his verses on many men were pretty special, just the first of his songs that came to mind....oh and 15-20 on a personal level, shyt on him all you want but fif was the fukking man back in the day 2000-2005, for that he's in my top 20, only just.

BK NY
25 for me being from NYC born in raised in south side Jamaica queens I was exposed heavy to the 50 movement I mean when I was In middle school he was gettin crazy popular GRODT had just came out and Erryone in my Scool was bumping you could go to Guy r brewer and jus here GRODT playing all day you could go to Jamaica ave and here 50 bumping all day up in the club

one thing i agree his impact was very big out here in NY, that's why people could say he's a top 10-20 artist. every hip hop radio station was playing Wanksta & In Da Club back in 2002-2003.

How is it legit when you asked does he got a classic?

nikka you don't remember GRODT??:what:

And a top 50? Rapper?

Easy.

These are not good questions :manny:
I feel like get rich is not truly a classic but I played it a lot in 03-05

But is it really a timeless classic in the same vein as a illmatic, chronic, LAD, etc

Fif is like the nikka who was unbeatable at the og street fighter 2. He figured out a formula that worked.

Then Street Fighter 2 Turbo came out and he was still doing the same moves he mastered in the OG game. Soon nikkas noticed he has no answer for Super Combos. His formula did not factor in combos or any of the other new shyt Turbo brought in.

He was still living off his rep but was slowly taking L's after L's. Then he gets totally thrown for a loop when Akuma (Rick Ross) is introduced.

Rick a flawed beatable character ends up beating Fif with his own attack strategy. He spams fireballs until Fif decided get aggressive and close the gap by jumping over the hadokens..

When Fif commits and jumps in the air to kick ross in his teeth..(sextape)

Depends on who you ask, some will say yes, some won't,but it is a classic in the sense of it will never be forgotten, now when you wanna get into lyrics and all that other stuff,I don't know.

But far as sales, impact and it being remembered.

Yes I think it is a classic

I don't know but I have stood and still stand by the fact that he, in his prime, is the greatest hook maker in all of hip hop. I put him above Nate Dogg, Drake, and anyone else. 50 was pretty elementary as a rapper but when it came to hooks and melodys he was on fire.

I was born in 89 and was a big fan of queens hip hop and 50 in my teens and never was a big fan of rakim/kane and em or even older nikkas like kool herc and cool moe dee.

50 in my personal top 10 for his melodies and flow and for marking my teens but realisticly if we judge on bars/emcee id put him like 35-45

:whoa:

Whoa whoa whoa... this might deserve its own thread. If it has not been done already.

And we must be clear on the context. Best hook delivery? Or the best at constructing hooks?

I personally say Fif might be the best at creating hooks. I dont think he was the best at singing/rapping them.

Got to go with Nate D O Double G.:banderas:
