My goodness. Jay has a great catalog but some people are over rating his catalogue like it's some ungodly music. Even going back and listening, some of it hasnt even aged well. Nas could easily compete in a versus with Jay. People that are hip hop fans are going to want to hear hip hop songs in a battle like not commercial songs. Nas could easily hold up in that category.

I think it depends on who the artists involved are. Dudes like Jay, LL, and Snoop have tons of hits. But not only are they hits they’re timeless classics and that makes a difference

It really depends on the matchup. For example Jada was crushing Fab by using straight up hip hop records. Those commerical records didnt sound good next to jada bringing those hard songs. For example if Jay and Nas were to go at a versus. People would want the hip hop records, not those BS songs.

The reason Fab’s hits don’t work is becuz a lot of them were sappy love songs. Jay’s hits weren’t corny. That’s why I don’t see why people think Nas could beat him. Some of Jay’s hits were Big Pimpin, Hard Knock Life, I Just Wanna Love You just to name a few. Not only were they huge hits but they were street anthems. You were just as likely to hear those songs on the radio and club as you would with nikkas on the block playing music

Nas has great features too. Which alot of people sleep on. It's a more even match than people would think. It would probably catch people by surprise actually. Especially in a 20 song setting
