reasonable doubt was hyped up to greatness on some revisionist shyt, but the album is a flawless so it worked.
pac wouldnt have been able to do this with 2Pacalypse...or TI with Im Serious
i disagree... nobody ever hyped up this album to be successful
anybody who was alive during that era knows that biggie was the man... to be followed/equal with wu... and that brought the east back from the west coast stranglehold
ain't no nikka was popular but that was cause foxy... but jay wasn't a factor and everyone knew it... fukking method man was bigger than jay at that time
what cannot be denied is, it's a great album... there are classics on there.. it's not some 2.5 mic bullshyt ass album... and 20 albums later, everyone still says it's jay's best album and most lyrical
so i get why someone would say "nah it wasn't classic back then and jay wasn't huge" no shyt
but the music on the album is the exact same music... and when you listen to it today... you'd be hard pressed to tell me that it's a shytty album that doesn't fukking bang to this day
