first time I heard about the Electoral College I was like I had to research to make sure I wasn't hearing the wrong thing. Maybe it's easier because of the size of the population but we don't have anything like that here, the regular people actually vote in whichever party comes into power.

Electoral college serves a pretty good check on allowing high population states to bully the process.
On top of that, it reinforces the concept of states and their original purpose, probably hard to recognize now since so many don't look at the US as a collection of different states anymore.

this isnt the fukkin 1700s where motherfukkers are riding on horses to deliver the news of who their state voted for. but not only that, theres that obvious aspect of control to make sure the 'right' people get elected
