Blackberry/RIM is the perfect example of how a company can take a loyal die hard customer and turn them against you. Though the Bold and Bold 2 are probably my favorite phones of all time once they dropped the Blackberry Torch instead of a touch screen Bold I knew it was time for me to jump ship.

Had all of those. Dating back to 2003. I stuck with RIM when their focus was on Enterprise and not the consumer. Screen was shytty, when there was no auto backlight, no camera, when you couldn't play music...all of that. They were last to the game.

I stuck around because of the keyboard and email.

They stopped doing what they do best, the keyboard, to do something else half assed, Touch. It would be like if McDonalds stopped selling burgers and instead started selling pizza and fries. The email and messaging was no longer enough. Every other company had caught up.

After I got fed up with my 3rd iPhone 4S breaking (after breaking at least five 4's) I jumped ship to HTC. The blackberry was never on my radar.

Imagine if RIM had poured their R&D money into making a game changing form factor with touch and a keyboard that wasnt gimmicky? Or released a touch Bold when they should have? Instead of doing the black slab no keyboard everyone else is doing?

Things would be different now.

RIP RIM. It was a good ride.
