Exposed punjabiwhen I typed the processor into google the old piece of sh1t was $10 on ebay
if i upgraded the cpu would that decrease the temp of the machine?

any newer cpu is gonna need a newer mobo as well. you might as well run that old thing into the ground![]()
not a new/modern one, just a less sh1tty one that won't cause the temps to rise and will be able to handle small task like browser the net, printing, retro games
it's not exactly easy to find new older cpus. ebay or some shyt I guess. just not worth the headache IMO
is it running at 60c affecting you somehow?
summer is coming...

nah, everything is straight plus I have air conditioners in the rooms with the PCs.......(not on now tho, just fans)
I just don't like how the temp is getting to like 70c on the old joint when doing simple task
exact processor
AMD Athlon XP 2800 AXDA2800DKV4D 2 08GHz 333FSB Socket A CPU w Thermal Grease 683728110901 | eBay
So you're telling me that I can't just upgrade to a sh1tty but less sh1tty joint for $20- $30 and not have to worry about overheating?
you have to find out what (superior) cpu's are compatible with your mobo. they're all probably gonna have the same issues with modern tasks though. it ain't worth it...

I already got a higher wattage PSU being delivered Monday. (300w)
The joint I'm using now on my old desktop is a 250w joint from 1998......
Could that possibly help with the CPU temp? (better fan in the PSU ETC)

you just bought a 300w psu?
yo...let me jump back and kiss myself real quick.
10 years ago that would have been adequate.
today that's just![]()

Correct, for my 2003 desktop that had a 10 yr old processor, G force 4 integrated gpu, and 250w PSU with a loud ass fan
