"Not looking for work" is the prerequisite for a labour force statistic.
When you see an article citing the size of the labour force, "not actively looking for a job" is a part of that.
You're looking to the wrong portion of the article for racism.
That phrase is ambiguous in itself to where it doesnt cover all of the methods of actively looking for work which is why I call racism because it drives attention away from racist white employers.

45 mill

How is this possible?
There are only: 38,929,319 Black people in the US.
That's total.
There is no way 31.3% of the Black population is out of the labour force.
At least 15% of that 39,000,000 are under 18.
A good portion of that number are also in school.
There's no way damn near 1/2 of the Black population is not working.
No way.

Africa yall.....need to build them economic connections .... ..... It just seems to obvious to me, even though I haven't done enough myself :beli:, but its right there ......... the continent is right there.....:francis:

I finally stepped in this thread for first time today and just finished watching this video.....

In 2015, any conversation/interview about African American economics that doesn't have at least one question about Africa is a sub par conversation/question. IMHO. :francis:

Easier said than done, I know, but without speaking it into existence, it will not manifest. African Americans gone sit on the sidelines and let the rest of the world :eat: from the Motherland's teets, and not hop in there :snoop:.

The participation rate for us it's 61% and 62.5% for the whole nation. But they didn't care to mention that, or that the record since 78 for the whole nation was broken several times last year.

I can't solely blame the government for people not applying for jobs, that's cultural within families, communities and on. Which is extremely hard for any government to solve. It takes decades, regulations, structural reforms and on to correct people's job spirit.
For all we know it might be that more black women are becoming housewives cause a lot of nikkas are stacking bread. They might've changed the way they classify and on.

Cns news is like foxnews on crack, only jokes read that shyt.

Increasing unemployment, that's a problem for the government. A problem that the government can solve in the short run and long long run.

i dont agree with that africa stuff, any discussion of economics i think starts in black neighborhoods and black people owning the stores and business in their own neighborhood

there is nothing special in africa, if you're a broke ass motherfuker here, you will be a broke ass motherfuker there too, if you can make money here you can make it over there

im not against trade with africa but you have to build things here first

Agreed, we need to start with some basic sovereignty from whites, and work from there.

Fair enough. So if you have money, then you should consider investing/partnering in Africa as an African American. I'm not saying this on some fantasy shiit....Africa (for better or worse) is gradually in some areas and rapidly in other areas reaching quality of life/development levels of the the Western/developed countries. AAs need/should be part of that trajectory....and bring some of that capital back to AA communities.

Dame Dash did say something crucial, which was telecommunication has overcome to a good extent geography/distance. When it comes to the internet, California is the same distance as Lagos. Its all about filling a need, and there are plenty of needs and desires on the continent, for "different", not always "better", quality of life.

AAs are not going to build a car company from scratch, very unlikely, but countries like Ghana and Nigeria are doing that right now. They are building brand new massive city centers and for that matter cities from scratch. See my point, we need to be part of that.

That next level of interaction can only occur if African development is inserted into the conversation on AA economics. Not as the focal point, but an important point. Its funny we can talk about robots and technology taking away jobs from Americans in general, not just AAs. Yet, people find it odd to talk about creating business opportunities in the Motherland with people that look like you.

By the time AAs "get our shiit together" economically, it will be to late, or we would struggling to enter African markets already filled. Yall thinking on some 1995 mindset, we are in 2015. :dwillhuh:

im not knocking investing africa in any way shape or form, im just saying it starts here first

for example, we dont even own the wendy's in our block, lets start with that, then after we get that down, we simply open up wendy's in africa,

the best way to invest in african telecom companies is to go to the top schools in the US to learn the latest technologies and work with the telecom companies to gain experience and develop prelationships with banks or other aa that want to invest and then go to africa in invest in telecoms

but the point it is it starts here first

the other thing you have to realize is that africa is literally the worst place in the world to do business in terms of paperwork, taxes, and bureaucracy, so for AA to start investing a lot of african countries need to change their laws to make it easier to invest and and to establish business

exactly it starts here first. if you can't do it in your city (lack of resources i guess?). how are you going to afford to make power moves in africa, getting their might even be a problem for you. africans don't want your broke ass either. broke chinese aren't going to africa and making power moves either. it's the ones with resources who are doing it. yes black americans of means should invest their money responsibly wherever it's going to produce a good ROI.
