It was a bad trade no doubt. But trades like that have to happen in order to make a big push. I will always trade prospects for proven players. One player in baseball can't lead a team to glory, it aint basketball.

I rather spend money than trade away prospects. Specially in Boston that it's a big market. One player doesn't lead a team to Glory but when you have future All Stars like Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Blake Swihart and upcoming bluechip prospects adding a #1 top of the line Pitcher doesn't hurt.

There's zero chance an agent would allow a player of Price's caliber to sign a deal with a team option after three years, especially this early in free agency.
