It would take money, a clever campaign and a few other bits and pieces that I'm not just going to give away but its entirely possible if not inevitable as Reddit as it stands has immense barriers to entry for new users due to its "redditness" and how off that is in comparison to every other site experience on the net as well as a load of other easily correctable factors and avenues currently ignored.

Their concept is excellent, the execution is not and if my hypothetical is actualized correctly it could change the focus of social media by tipping it back toward the social and away from the media circus it has become which in turn would create a whole different something something.

No offense but what you're saying is a bit incongruous with reality. One of the reasons reddit has grown so much is because they don't have intrusive advertising. Also how can a website with almost 200 million unique users a month have "immense barriers to entry". That makes no sense.

Like I said it’s whole UI is very offputting to newcomers hence barrier to entry which is something all good sites attempt to account for and reduce whereas even highlighting a word in bold on Reddit requires knowledge of their obtuse manual formatting and that’s just one point.

People will drive a model T that they have to hand crank to start as it beats a horse and buggy but the moment someone invents a starter motor and smoother experience everyone jumps ship and this is even more valid in the digital realm. Reddit is that T, someone will cash in big by upgrading the concept to a Lexus application and it can all be done so easily if you have the right vision.
