Red was regarded as one of the Top 5 in the early 90's.

And that was throughout all of Hip Hop, not just the east coast. From the first album to Muddy Waters, he had one of the best three-album classic runs in the history of the game. He had way more than "moments". He was one of the most influential during that run. Everyone was calling Reggie for a feature back then.

To me redman was never one of the top dons in the mc game to me.

But tracks like let's get dirty makes me remember great times.

Redman come thru with Cristina agularia.

We all love those moments in hip hop
His "moments" was 92 until 2000 or 2001:gucci:

Call the most consistent MC of the 90s "never one of the top dons", brehs. :childplease:

Stop.

Redman debuted as thee best styles war rapper arguably all time.
Plus for the time. The second best posse cut feature rapper ever in timeline after k solo.
That Rodman had an actual commercial for hardcore.
Where it was to showcase him before an album dropped or was slated for release. To advertise epmd and his own solo record.

Not to mention...

Tonite's the night is the original best instrumental and smooth rap record of the decade.
Plus tonite' the night remix. Is the penultimate showcase of skill.
That became the overall rap barometer of an emcee snapping moving forward as well.

Not to mention.
The rego and remix to blow ya mind.l video. Swept most top ten countdowns in both incarnation.

I agree with OP, Red definitely had his moments but I just couldn’t get into his music overall

he is a East Coast legend tho
Clown lyrics... Too jokey, nothing about his lyrics stand out to me compared to the real mcs from NY at the time.

Just curious, but what makes him different than a "real mc?"

Is it cause he isn't shooting up police stations like the Terminator or needs the scale that they weigh the whales with. He's practically a member of the Wu Tang clan and EPMD and they are real mcs

I hear you bruh but it's just that man.

Wu Tang will have a message to spread... Mobb deep or Nas gave messages to spread

Redman is just out here making joke lyrics about life... Like my guy said he's literally just the NY version of ludacris
