Red has so many underrated joints.

This is the first one that came to mind, just now.

Back when he was making those dope ass funky beats!

Green Island is a masterclass in rapping and production :whew:

“My style’s rugged like Timberland” :wow:

Uncle Quilly the GOAT character in a Hip Hop song

Uncle Quilly is to Red what Mudbone was to Richard Pryor :russ:

Oh hell yeah

What I love about Erick and Red’s beats back then was their ability to reuse samples of not only old Funk records but then their own songs again again and it NEVER sounded redundant

Some days I sit and listen to Redman and Erick beats and Red’s rhymes and be like “this nikka Reggie was in a different world making this shyt” :wow:

EXACTLY!

Back when I used to read the credits on the first Red album, I would see that E was reusing the same samples over and over again, but putting mad different spins on them. So it didn't seem like it. Dude was working at a genius level, back then.

Both of them were seriously in their primes during that classic Def Squad run from '92-'98.

TRUTH!

I still crack up when Quilly tells Erick "Green Eyed Bandit?!? You should've been found the goddamn treasure!!"
