Should students of public schools be able to wear crosses, hijabs, or anything else that symbolizes their affiliation with a religion? Also, how about prayer in school? Should it be allowed?

They can pray in school but it can't be student and teacher lead prayer. I would say if there allowed to wear crosses and hijabs then I guess you would have to let satanist and people of faiths that aren't a part of the dominant society wear the stuff they want.
I agree with the 2nd part, the first part: if you're at school then why are you praying? What's the need to pray? Especially in a Christian dominated society.

In 2004 France banned anything that is a symbol of religion in their schools, good or bad idea?

It's just politics. I personally don't see a problem if everybody wanna go in there lil personal cubby or corner and pray. I'm going to school to teach music and I'm observing two schools. Both are doing winter musicals. One school is allowed to say Christmas, Lord, etc. the other school is not. It only takes one parent to speak up and get everyone riled up...

I feel you fam I think in some religions like Islam they have to pray five times a day, also there might be some people that want to pray to there deity anytime they want since that is the way the communicate with it:yeshrug:. As far as France I don't no man, i'm all about freedom of expression so I don't think it's a good idea but I gotta look into that too see why.
Yes exactly. I know, but should you really need to get in contact with your deity at school or work?

I'm only asking this because I'm in a public speaking class, it's our 4th and final speech and it had to be a persuasive speech. 1 religious guy (he and his sister are cool) said that his speech topic will be going against the teaching of evolution in school and this older woman who was in the military (she's like 28) said that she's going to do her speech on how they should teach evolution in school. So I thought of my topic (I was the last 1) and I decided to do religion in public schools. I'm not an atheist, but I'm hardly religious although I do attend church. And I'm honestly in the middle but I'm leaning against it just as a challenge to myself.

Some people don't want these things forced upon their children tbh and to be fair the Supreme Court did ban the promotion of religion in public schools in 1962. Are the terms "Christmas" and "lord" not terms that promote religion?

So much conflict.

I agree with @Verus Rex

As long as it doesn't distract from learning then it shouldn't really matter. As far as the bit about the Supreme Court banning the promotion of religion it seems kinda odd that the pledge of allegiance came a few years earlier. It's like them saying, don't promote religion, promote nationalism.

Even in that though it says under God and knowing our country, they mean the Christian God.

the evils of truth, and love
wait until little jamal brings his dusty ass prayer rug to class and pulls it out 4 to 5 times during the day to start chanting and watch how quickly these christian nutcases backtrack on this idea :pachaha:

well thats why parents have an option of where they want to send their child to school, in some cases anyway

it would probably cause turmoil but its unfair to take away trying to get right with your god while other people have their own
