Remasters aren't bad, and they're gonna exist for a long time this gen. :pachaha:

I honestly think we will see a crash in the market.

The current model isnt sustainable. You got studios closing left and right, sony as a company isnt doing well, the consistent rumours of microsoft selling off the xbox brand and nintendos market share shrinking every year. Wii was an anamoly.

Game budgets keep getting bigger and bigger.

I mean the evidence is right there in this gen. Look how slowly games are releasing. Look at what many former giants like capcom, konami, sega or thq have become. Its not like other studios are rising up to take their place.

People keep saying well this year wasnt that great games but next year :lupe:

Lets be real 2014 was garbage and 2015 is looking garbage too. Theres not enough games and the games coming out are taking zero risks.

I dont know how much longer the current business model will hang out but its looking like its going to implode. Can you imagine how big game budgets would be the gen after this. :dead:

Gamers are just entitled whiners when it comes down to it.

Its the definition of first world problems.

If you dont want the remaster dont buy it. Pretty simple. Theres obviously a market for them other wise they wouldnt keep making them.

i keep saying, this isnt studio greed. 95% of studios can barely keep their lights on. If they have to pump out a few remasters so they can fund a new game then so be it.

Dudes cant see the forest for the trees.

I got no real problem with remasters, I buy a couple from time to time.

Problem is people refuse to understand in what shytty shape the AAA market is in. You got games selling a few million and being considered a failure.

The industry is getting worse every year. Sega just withdrew, what big studio will be next?

Without SEGA, the console market would still not have online, have in game voice chat, and so on. People shytting on SEGA's existence is pathetic and the fact is, the stagnation of the AAA games outside of a Nintendo console will make the industry collapse. Japan's gaming market is shrinking and have more people playing cell phone games more than ever.

Some games cost as much as $100 million to develop. How can developers keep that up? Even one flop would put them in the red, and two flops from closing their doors. But American gamers want better graphics with the same gameplay mechanics since the PS2/GC era.

So gaming as we know it is on an expiration date and games in the future will probably just be indie games that don't take much to make? :mjcry:

Yup, and it is all because of greed on both the gamers' and the developers' end. The PS3, when it dropped in 2006, was costly and even the hardware was a lot harder for Japanese developers to adjust to because it focused on high-end graphics that many 3rd party developers had a hard time keep up with the costs. Gamers,as greedy as ever, wanted the best of everything because they feel that shiny graphics and online play was better than quality games with replayability. It opened up a vacuum where gaming budgets gotten bigger and bigger, and the cost of games couldn't increase thanks to the Recession. That is why developers had the download content AFTER you purchased the game, that cost a lot more $$$ to absorb high costs of high end graphics, voice acting, cinematic gameplay :heh: and the like.

Now, we reached a point where originality is a thing of the past for AAA games.

The console online service environment we have now was put together by Microsoft. Just because SEGA who was in the marketplace before Microsoft did it first doesn't mean they did it well or made it a success. SEGA threw a lot of shyt at the wall hoping something would stick like a home console portable hybrid, console expansions units, and the VMU for example. There's a reason that company is in tatters now and running to cell phone games to save them and companies like Nintendo and Sony are still putting out hardware. SEGA's own incompetence did them in. They've mismanaged themselves into damn near irrelevancy. They can't even make a decent Sonic game anymore.

Really, so you telling me if it wasn't for the Dreamcast consoles released 15 years later wouldn't be online? :what:

Not in the way now. Gotta respect SEGA as a pioneer for all that they did with the DC.

Actually if you are gonna credit anyone for the current landscape of online console gaming it would have to be Microsoft, not Sega.

Using your logic I could say that if it wasn't for Nintendo we would still be using the d-pad as the primary input.
