Audio Galaxy was the GOAT, hands down. There was so much obscure hard to find shyt on there, they had everything, literally...I have songs from there that to this day I can't find online.

My 56k memories:

Back when NetZero was free :blessed:

All the downloading software y'all mentioned (and I mean ALL lol) :blessed:

Arguing with moms about tying up the phone line when downloading :blessed:

Downloading 10-20 second porn clips and looping them like they were a full video:blessed:

Hacked version of Fruity Loops :blessed:

Using the trial version of Cool Edit (with all the bells and shyt in the background) thinking I'm DMX or some shyt :blessed:

Real Audio .rm files :laff::blessed:

lol @ realplayer files. The videos were MUCH smaller than mpeg, a porn video watcher's dream in the dial up era

Some sites (like OnSmash I think) use to only put up albums in .rm format, and that's when that stream box ripper @LionofJudah posted came in handy majorly

Yeah man that StreamBoxRipper was needed because alot of people didn't have high-speed, so they had to get Real Audio and Real Media files. Once those sites started disappearing, you had to upgrade or get left behind LOL.

:heh: I never had that problem because I had my own phone line for years. I hated missing calls from my friends though. Those motherfukkers probably let that shyt ring multiple times to knock me offline. :demonic:

It was a struggle back then because in 03-04 I was around 9 or 10 was the most technologically advanced person in the house. :heh: We used to go to Publix and collect them AOL starter CDs or either be on the phone with my mom begging AOL to tell us how to talk and surf at the same time. :dead:

Then BellSouth DSL came and crushed the buildings. :wowzers:

I forget how those discs used to work. As long as you had another one, you could just add it and keep getting internet? How the fukk was AOL making any money? LOL

That's why you downloaded things overnight. Go to sleep, wake up and its all there :youngsabo:

sounds good in theory, but sometimes you'd start the download before u go to bed, and for some reason, the line would disconnect leaving you like :noah: in the morning.

Audiogalaxy would have songs fresh off the radio so fast.

When Napster had that Transfer Error message it felt like you put all your blood sweat and tears into that download and it didn't work :sadcam:

On the flip side, that countdown got to 10 for a song you waited 30 minutes for, you were like :bryan:

audiogalaxy was so piff cuz if you got disconnected (which ALWAYS seemed to happen back then), it would resume your download where you left off.
