South Florida's housing market got hit the worst in the entire country at the time, especially because MAAAAD nikkas bought houses from 04-06 and defaulted on their mortgages

My dad had bought our house cash in 2004 so we were good on foreclosure, even though the house still lost value, and my dad is an entrepreneur in a recession-proof industry so we were good on employment, but some family members lost their jobs and got evicted from their cribs

My dad took the opportunity in 09-2010 and started purchasing property and now makes a healthy return on that

I was a junior in high school. Moms and pops are goverment employees so no real effect. I lurked the internet and realized mass people were putting items on amazon with their life savings. Blackhatforums.com

Rode that wave with my $200 and flipped it to 20k :yeshrug:

Amazon came up on that cheap Chinese shyt and nobody cares really. Old white men pushed into a corner did it. It's an untold economic story and I highly doubt it will ever be told unless u were apart of it :francis:

Hit the automotive industry hard as shyt. Folks up here were shook. We thought the whole thing was crumbling down.
The documented unemployment rate was in 10+ percent, but even economists were saying the number was much higher due to folks saying fukk it and not even looking for jobs.

I was collecting unemployment and exhausted all the tiers, then they extended it with emergency tiers. shyt was so bad, when folks burned through that, the folks at unemployment told us to keep filling anyway. We still kept getting paid :manny:. Daycare was a bytch, so me being at home with the kids helped a lot. My wife was a nurse then too, so shyt didn't get as real for us as it did other people. That was a shytty time. Gas damn near $5, folks walking away from their homes, six hour waits at the unemployment office, and unemployment workers ironically losing their jobs too :wow:

We were in the market at that time too. We even had a deal pending, but it fell through. My wife was upset, but thank God we dodged that bullet :whew:. Mortgages were easy as hell to get, but the prices here were waaaay overinflated. Fukkery waiting to happen.
