He was cool with Nas early on (Kobe was a fan and Nas did some ghostwriting work on that scrapped Sony album of Kobe's), they even were pictured at an addidas event together in 2000 but it was the whole rape/snitch on Shaq thing.

I think all rappers apart from Skillz were cool with Shaq.

that was the best thing he could have done. and he really didn't have a choice. if he didn't try to drag down the lakers organization (by doing that crab in a barrell sh1t with shaq) players in the league would have come to his defense or would have been saying give him a second chance. but he lifted his skirt and broke codes that no man is supposed to break. so he had to go it alone. i think the whole ordeal actually made kobe a better basketball player in terms of his mental toughness and shutting everything else out.
