He was discovered by Cudda Love who was connected to Mase. Nelly's production was handeled by his childhood friend. Dude produced all of Country Grammar.

Definitely not a good comparison. Nelly over ALC is more like Cee Lo over Premo. Cee Lo's "Evening News" was a different sound for Premo and the craziest part about it is Cee Lo sang over most of the song and then hit us with a "Goodie Bag" level verse at the end of the song. It was "Closet Freak" Cee Lo meets "Goodie Bag" Cee Lo.

I think what he’s getting at is that Nelly was never known as a great rapper. Everything he did had a melody or harmony when he would rap. Cee-Lo outside of gnarls Barkley was a dope rapper.
