Western countries had very Christian values that affected public holidays and many places were even shut down on Sundays. no shopping nothing. As christianity has waned and family values changed there is less emphasis on family gatherings like in the past and most people in society are not Christian anymore so not everyone going to Christmas mass not everything is shut down on Christmas. Traditionally in my city China town used to be the only place open but now other businesses can open and a lot of non Christians don't take the day off.

I don't spend money on holidays. Some poor retail or food service soul is always at work, away from family because of last-minute shoppers.
I used to think like this, then today I found out my favorite breakfast restaurant was open :wow:. I'ma get them pancakes.... I figure if I was in that situation would I rather be bored from NO one coming in and mad I had to work, or time flying cuz I'm busy and mad I had to work? I proceeded to order that turkey bacon :banderas:

I don't know about anywhere else but the pandemic did a reset in my area. Stores USED to be open during the holidays.

Everything closes down on holidays after covid.

Even the stores that used to be open all night before covid (not holiday hours, just regular hours) close by 11 now.

I hate it.

Driving to my mom’s house, all kinds of stores open for business on Christmas. Watching Disney event, they got full staff parade and concert going on. Actually I don’t think Disney ever closes. I remember back in the day only gas stations were open on seasonal holidays.

The Disney parade and concert is filmed in advance. They don’t do that shyt live because they want to control the editing to make sure it’s perfect. If you are there on the right day/night you can see how many takes they do on those performances.

:ohhh:I was wondering about that, up here telling my moms they got all these people and workers performing on the holiday :russ:. Same network switched the Chicago parade and festivities, they said they filmed all that on Christmas eve night. It would be interesting to watch how all that gets done.
