Was just watching a LA riot doc the other day. I've always been torn on this story. On one hand, a life is never worth $2. On the other, the Koreans were sick of nikkas stealing their shyt and police not doing anything. They really took things into their own hands to defend theirs and I can't really be mad at that :manny:

Some post-script facts:

Du's store was burned down to the ground shortly thereafter, and she and her family never returned to the area again.

Close to 70% of the stores/shops that burned down during the L.A riots were Asian owned. This incident was said to be the tipping point in an already tension-filled relationship between local blacks and koreans in the inner city L.A areas.

Tupac's 'keep your head up' was inspired by the killing, and is a tribute to Harlin's memory.
I thought I read that like 45% of the businesses destroyed were Hispanic owned...either way, it seems like not many white owned businesses were destroyed

R.I.P.

Too young to know this story. I am outraged reading it on wikipedia.

Kind of reeminds me of Trayvon but there was no stand your ground law protecting this shopkeeper and the judge still got it wrong. :snoop:

That judge is absolutely insane reducing her sentence to that.

A jury of her peers found she voluntarily intended to cause serious bodily injury that resulted in death.

You dont cause someones death and get asentence like that. There is nothing that can mitigate a homicide verdict that much.

Im truly outraged 25 years later.

That judge had too much leeway when it came to sentencing.

Smh just a tragic situation definitely not worth being killed over. Moving away she wasn't presenting a hostile act or hostile intent. Du should have went down over that but the justice system failed once again. But the brehs took it into there own hands.
